I get back home and spend the rest of the night locked in my room. I just go through social media and play games on my phone while chowing down old Halloween candy. God I'm such a fat joke.
I glance at the clock. 11:37. I glance a little later: 12:03. I guess I'm tired but i don't want to go to sleep. I think over it and decide I should get my beauty sleep for my date tomorrow.
I wake up and trudge downstairs to go cook up some waffles. There's not any plans today so instead I slump on the couch. Another 6 hours go by of this routine and it's already 3 p.m. I've just wasted the whole day but i don't care because I'm looking forward to seeing Spencer tonight. I decide to take a shower so I can actually look decent. After, I put deodorant on, gel up my brown hair, brush my teeth, floss, use mouthwash, all the stops.
My mom comes home around 5:00 because she had to work today. Ew, on a Saturday? I had already asked her about giving me a ride to go "hang out in the village with friends," so we leave almost immediately. She'd get skeptical if she knew it was just me and another guy. I throw on some Arizona khaki pants and a blue button-up long-sleeve with a white tee under it. I leave the buttons at the top unbuttoned and roll up my sleeves. Then I slip on my own Timberland boots and head out the door. My palms are already sweating I'm so nervous. There are butterflies in my stomach, but they feel like tape-worms eating away at my insides from anxiety. My mom and I make small talk in the car despite how nervous I am.
I get there about 5 minutes late and find Spencer sitting next to the ice cream shop on his phone. Of course he's absolutely gorgeous and stunningly handsome. He's wearing auburn-tainted pants, a purple tee shirt, and his Tim's as well. He greets me with a warm smile and my worries completely fall away. He doesn't make me feel nervous when I'm with him. I notice his perfectly combed up hair that looks recently showered. I smile back and say,
"Hungry?" I just realized it was silly to go for ice cream before dinner. Not to mention it's cold out. Why did I recommend this?
"Yeah, let's go." He responds.
I order "piece of cake" flavor in a cone and he gets cotton candy in a cone. I find it really cute that he chose that flavor. *This is actually his favorite Ice cream flavor, and yes there is a real Spencer out there with my exact descriptions.* We sit out on the picnic tables along the bank of the river that runs through town.
"So what made you think of ice cream?" He asks me.
"Uh, well, I'm not sure. It's kind of ridiculous since it's fall but everyone loves ice cream." I cheerfully say while licking my scoop. He nods and I get the feeling this would get boring and awkward if we just sat here.
"Hey, do you want to take a walk?" I suggest.
"Okay, where do you wanna go?" He chirps back excitedly.
"How about that way?" I say as I point to a path down the river.
"Sure, let's go!" We started walking and I found this as a chance to get to know more about him. That's what dates are all about anyway, right?
"Spence, I have to ask you something."
"Yeah sure, ask me anything."
"Um, so are you gay or just figuring things out, because I know you've dated girls before... like not too long ago." I let out nervously.
"Well, I must be gay because I'm not attracted to girls in the way I'm attracted to you." he explains, and he smiles when he finishes. I awkwardly giggle and start to blush a little. "How about you?" he continues.
"I'm pretty sure I'm gay because of the same reasons." I say and smile back.
We talk about some of our celebrity crushes like Liam Hemsworth, and Liam Payne. They're my favorite and it's just a coincidence we share a name. Eventually we make it to the park I was hoping we'd get to. It has a playground and benches and I decide to run like a little kid to the swings. He comes behind me and pushes me like I am a little kid, chuckling a bit every time he does. As much as I normally hate the feeling of being treated like a little kid, it's different now because he makes it fun."Come sit next to me. On this one" I yell in the wind as I motion to the empty seat to my left. He does, and by the time he's airborne our swinging falls into a rhythm. "Hey look were married!"
"What did you just say?" He had a weird look on his face. Suddenly I feel extremely embarrassed, realizing how crazy that must've sounded.
"You never said that expression when you were little? Whenever you're in sync with the person swinging next to you you say you're married. I don't know. That's what we called it." I quickly explain, trying to sound like I'm not freaking out.
"No I've never heard that before," he chuckles.
We start getting tired and the date almost comes to an end. The walk took about an hour and it's now 7:15. My mom said she would come pick me up at 7:30. Realizing how little time we have left, I take his hand, walk him to a gnarled-looking tree with a picnic bench under it, and lay down on top of the bench. He follows suit and lays down next to me on the bench so that were looking up to the sky. No one else is in the park, and the only noises to be heard are the final songs of the robin before night creeps in.
"I had fun today Liam. We have to do this again soon," he says.
"Yes definitely!" I exclaim. We turned toward each other and I'm now staring into his beautiful brown eyes. They're golden brown and look enchanting in the sunlight. In that moment I feel like I'm under his every move, like he hypnotized me. He starts to bring his lips closer to mine and mouths the word definitely before embracing me. This is what I wanted the whole night. The kiss is magical and our chemistry is perfect. Our eyes are closed as we passionately but slowly exchange slight but constant movement in our lips. Something about this kiss is very different from the previous ones. Nothing is better than this feeling. His lips are tainted slightly blue and taste sugary from the cotton candy ice cream, but they're warm from the heat of his breath in the cold air. Everything around us is cold except for our lips, making me more compelled to keep mine locked in his, which could be forever if I had a say in the matter.
Bzzzzzzz! Crap it's his phone buzzing.
"My mom texted me. She's waiting in the parking lot. Guess I'll see you Monday at school, cutie." he winks and gets up to walk to his car.
"See ya later." Now I'm left with alone with just my thoughts. I'm not even wrapping my mind around what he said because I'm still awe-struck by his poise. I look on as he walks down the hill. Such confidence and composure. I realize I'm sitting up now and soon feel my pocket vibrate. It's my mom. She's here in the back parking lot.Wow. He is absolutely perfect. This date could not have gone any better.
