I Was A Nightbird With You Too.

It's darker than night where you live,
There are no stars in your sky,
Feeding as a victim,
On the cold excuses disguised,
And you sucked me in,
Lost when I was with you,
Turned into something I'm ashamed of,
Strength for you is always discarded,
You always take the easy way out,
Swerving the wrong way,
Nothing more than a nightbird in the dark.

You've got your head all twisted up,
It's all your choice,
Pushing away the loved and lost,
Avoiding judgment,
For the crimes you commit daily.

You tell them to leave you alone,
Telling them,
You can do this on your own,
Well it's not hard to see,
And it's no wonder,
That this is nothing but another excuse,
Designed to cover your own self abuse.

You hear them say,
People have it worse,
But they make a mistake when they see your intentions as pure,
You do not hurt yourself in spite of that fact,
You hurt yourself because of it,
Romanticizing scars,
Falling in love with pained hearts,
Unwilling to deal with yourself,
It's a trap of your own design.

I pity your next victim,
I doubt they'll be different than me,
Just another excuse for your pain to run free,
You are far too terrified of change,
And I don't know why you cling to your selfishness so strongly,
But you've got to let go,
Your webs aren't only your own,
You'll drag others down with you.

I hope you won't give up to the end,
I tried to tell you,
The power is in your own head,
It's all your choice,
I love you boy and you'll always have a place in my heart,
But you never listened to me,
I was no more than an excuse,
A pawn in your own game,
Your love for me was all wrong,

Nightbird, there is hope for you,
But it's all your choice.
