I awake from a very intense dream. My hair is in knots in front of my face, I needed it cut or people were going to call me a girl or hippie. I ran a hand through my hair. "EJ," my father said, I was startled, and ended up landing on the floor, with my comforter a top of me. I threw it off and said, "Yes dad?" His eyes stared at me intently, then he asked, "Son, what are you doing today?" I actually had to think for a moment before saying, "Having a picnic with Kat. Why?" He smiled, revealing the teeth I loathed for, and said, "We're going to reveal the thing for your mom. You just need to be back by 4." I nodded, feeling a course of adrenaline, we had been working on the thing for mom for months.
I nodded and before my dad turned to leave I asked, "May I bring, Katerina?" He nodded, a grin crossing his face as he left. I threw my comforter back onto the bed and went into the bathroom. I combed through my hair, and started messing with ways I could put it. "Wanna a barrette EJ?" Kristy asked, stepping into the bathroom. I turned on her, giving her a death glare. She put her hands up in defense and fled the bathroom. I shook my head, Katerina normally preferred my hair a mess anyways, easier to play with is how she had put it once.
I was still in my underwear, but I got changed in to simple black jeans, a white t-shirt, with a black leather jacket. I started jokingly acting like a jock on the mirror, putting my fingers like a gun and that sort of stuff. I shook my head. "Elias, get down for breakfast now," my mother called from the stairs. I rolled my eyes, how she had gotten in the habit of calling me by my first name was beyond me. Though she promised around friends she wouldn't call me around my friends. I walked out of my room and on my way out I stubbed my toe. "Ow," I muttered.
Out of nowhere appeared Kristy snickering at me. "I'm gonna get you," I yelled at her, starting to run at her. She screamed, running from me. As I ran down the stairs, I found Kristy hiding behind mom, whom had a glower on her face. I sighed, knowing I should of known she'd do this to me. "Elias Julian, what are you doing petrifying your sister?" I threw my head back and then said, "She is old enough not to run behind mommy to protect her. I am sorry mom and Kristy."
Kristy stuck her tongue out at me before bolting to the kitchen. I turned to leave, but mom but her hand on my shoulder. I turned back to her, "Elias, why do you have to be such a torment to your sister?" I held back the urge to roll my eyes and said, "Mom, she is 15 years old now. I just play with her! Nothing to actually hurt her." Mom shook her head, a few strands of hair coming loose from her bun. "Elias, you know I love you, but your sister is your sister. She hasn't realized how to stand up for herself, just try to lay it low."
I bit down on my lip and nodded. With that I went off into the kitchen where my family was enjoying their breakfast. I ate in silence, more then annoyed with Kristy at the moment. I was just happy mom didn't take away my privileges from seeing Katerina, I would have been devastated. I rolled my eyes at my toast and upon finishing my breakfast I headed out into the living room to watch some TV before I was suppose to meet Katerina outside.
I heard the purr of Katerina's Jeep coming up the driveway. I said bye to the others and ran out the door. Katerina was leaning against her car, looking as beautiful as ever. When she saw me, she pushed off the car walking towards me. She was wearing a jean jacket, with a blue beaded tank top that had flaps cut into them. She was wearing jeans, with her usual knee lenght boots, fortunately without heals. Her hair was pulled back with a clip, leaving little dangling from it. I smiled, pulling her into my arms as she made it to me.
"Hey Little Dove," I said. She inhaled and said, "Hey EJ." I heard a little hint of sadness in her voice. "What's up?" I asked, gently pulling her back so I could get a look at her. She had a sliver of a tear forming her eye, taking my thumb I gently brushed it off. "What's wrong?" I repeated differently. She shook her head and said, "No..Nothing. Sorry, I just want this day to be forever, any day with you makes me happy." I smiled, unsure if I believed her, I dropped it. Taking her hand, I led us to the edge of the forest.
