She turned to him and said, "Close your eyes."
"Why?" he asked.
"Just close them and tell me what you see and feel."
He closed his eyes for a few seconds. "I only see darkness and I feel nothing."
She smiled sadly at him. "Do you want to know what I see and feel when I close my eyes?"
"What do you see and feel?" he asked.
She looked at him. In her mind, the words she wanted to say were these: "I see us talking about nonsense things. I see us laughing with each other. I see us playing the video games you like. I see us reading the books I love. I see us at 3 am. I see us holding each other's hands. I see you holding me and telling me that it will be okay. I see you saying those words. I see us. I feel everything all at once. I feel euphoric, I feel gloomy and I feel content. I feel and see what we could have been."
But she just said, "Everything."
