I opened the door and stepped out into the cold rain. I glanced around me, and shivered. Closing the door, I ran quickly through the rain towards the school. I heard a sound behind me and my breath quickened, I spun around, my hands instantly reaching for the sword, but all I saw was a possum running across the ground.
Turning, I ran even faster than before, not caring that the rain stung my face. Finally, I could see the building behind the walls. I raced through the wall past the two teacher who both stood under the shade of a tree. They watched me as I flashed past, their eyes widening as they took in the silver of my tunic. I slowed down as I reached the door to the building and let myself in.
My hair, windblown from running, stuck to my shoulder and back, glistening with water. My clothes also stuck to me slightly as they were drenched. The other kids looked at me, mouths falling open in shock as they saw my tunic. Blushing, I looked down and walked past them, through the door of my classroom.
My best friend, Kayla, stared at me in shock for minute before bounding over, her own blond hair sparking with water. She was wearing black pants with a green tunic that had blue stripes. “You have a silver and green aura,” she exclaimed, shocked, “Why didn’t you tell me?” I shrugged.
“I didn’t know. You know that box that I had? Well I opened it and it was inside with this.” I pointed at the sword on my belt.
Kayla gasped, “It’s amazing,” she breathed.
When she came back to stand in front of me, I smiled. “Yours yellow and blue. So pretty.”
“Yours are way prettier,” she said answering my smile with a smile of her own.
“You’re wrong,” I said in a light tone.
We both jumped as we heard the teacher come in. We spun around and saw her walk in dressed in blue trousers and a purple shirt with white lines. “Since the rain has so conveniently stopped, we’ll be playing basketball,” she announced cheerfully, but everyone could see that her smile was forced and her body was tense.
We slowly filed out of the classroom, meeting with our friends on the way out. I thought I would explode with embarrassment as I saw the way that everyone, even the teacher, looked at me.
We walked onto the basketball, the wind whipping widely around us. We split up into teams and the teacher gave us the ball. I stood poised around the two people in the middle eyes on the ball. Kayla jumped smashing the ball into the air and I jumped up, grabbing it. I landed on the ground running, dribbling the ball in front of me.
A boy Alex, from the other team jumped in front of me, trying to steal the ball. I threw it high over his head, passing it to my friend, Sasha. She caught it throwing it to Liam who passed it back to me. I jumped forward and twisted in the air, to avoid Pia from the other team getting the ball. As I landed I threw the ball into the air. It bounced on the edge of the hoop twice before going in.
My team conversed around me and we cheered. Then we broke off, we went back to our positions cheerfully. I sprung for the ball as it was launched into the air and hit it into Liam’s hands. He grabbed it and broke into a run towards our goal. Alex leaped in front of him, trying to get the ball. Liam turned and threw the ball to me.
Suddenly the red-black mist that had invade my dreams last night came into my head, but this time it was much more powerful. I tried to suck in air but nothing came. I screamed in pain as I felt the mist fling out my hands and drag me off the ground. The basketball hit my arm and fell to the ground, bouncing twice before rolling away.
