++++Rosalie's POV++++Before we knew it Nathan and I were back in Montreal for preseason training. I wish that we could've stayed in Australia for forever but we had to return to reality. Nathan was not the only one that had to return for hockey I had meetings with all of the coaches and the alternate captains. After all the meetings were over it was time to hit the ice again. Just from our first practice as a team I could already tell this season was going to be amazing. The new guys on the team were very stand-offish when I was first introduced as their captain. They weren't used to having a woman being a captain of a men's team.
Today we were having a captain's practice to really get to know that guys to see how they are without a coach there. All was going well until the end of practice when it was time for sprints. The new guys did the sprints like I told them, but they weren't putting in any effort.
"Everyone great practice today go get showered." I said.
Everyone was getting off the ice and I followed last. The new guys started to take off their equipment while I stood there in my equipment.
"Rosalie I know you're captain now, but you still have to change in your own room." Alexis said.
"Just give me a sec. Newbie's get your asses back out there and do your sprints. I don't care who you think you are or how you view me, but when I tell you to do something you do it." I commanded.
"Come on Rosalie we're dying." the new guy named Daniel huffed.
"No you're not if you were, you wouldn't be breathing." I said.
"I wouldn't mess with her guys." Mathieu said.
"Let's go!" I yelled and they followed.
"What do you want us to do?" Joe asked.
"We are going to climb the mountain twice and I want all of you giving 110%, is that clear?" I asked.
"Yes." they said in unison.
"You all know the drill let's go follow my lead." I said and did the drill with them.
After we finished we all collapsed on the ice.
"Why-the hell- did you do these- too?" Sam asked.
"There is always room to improve no matter who you are." I told them.
"Did we do better?" Daniel asked.
"Yes but you still didn't ever beat me to the line." I smirked.
"That's no fair." Sam asked.
"It's not about fairness it's about preparedness. Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to see Pete for an ice bath." I peeled myself off the ice and went to my locker room.
*~*~*
I pulled up to our house to see a ton of cars in the driveway. I opened the front door and looked around for people.
"Nathan? Babe where are you?" I yelled when I walked through the first floor.
"Dude what the fuck!" I heard someone yell from downstairs.
I ran down the stairs to the basement to find half of the team down there.
"Brooke! We can explain." Brendan said holding up a broken trophy.
"Don't worry Brendan it's just an old high school trophy. If it was one from last year that would be a different story." I said helping them pick up the glass.
"I'll fix it for you." Brendan said.
"Are you sure? You really don't have to I'm not upset." I said.
"Yeah no problem." he said.
"How did this happen in the first place?" I asked them.
"Well we were playing football, but Nathan told us not to. He left to go to grill and we started playing again." Alex said.
"You boys are just like little kids I swear." I shook my head.
"I've got burg...What did you guys do didn't I tell you no football in the house!" Nathan said and I started to laugh.
"Rosie why are you laughing at me I told them not to play ball in the house." Nathan said.
"It's just that when you came in you sounded just like a father punishing his kids." I laughed.
"Well we don't have kids...yet." Nathan said with a wink.
"And it's gonna stay that way for a while." I told him.
"That might not be so true." Nathan said with a guilty look on his face.
"What did you do, Nathan?" I asked.
"Um just stay right there and close your eyes." Nathan said and went into the garage.
"Did you guys know about this?" I asked the guys.
"Maybe." Brendan said.
"Ok, sit down on the ground and then open your eyes." Nathan instructed.
I did as he told me and when I opened my eyes there was a Doberman puppy sitting in front of me with a big bow on it's collar.
"Nathan he's so cute! It's a he right?" I asked.
"Yep it's a he." Nathan laughed.
"What should we name him?" I asked.
"What about, Charlie?" Alex suggested.
"I like it!" I exclaimed.
"Can you get a picture of us together, Brendan?" I asked handing him my phone.
Nathan put Charlie on my lap when I sat on the ground and he wrapped his arms around me and Charlie.
"Ready 1, 2, 3." Brendan took our picture and handed me my phone.
"Aren't we the cutest." I smiled looking thorough the pictures.
"Yep our little family." Nathan said.
