Chapter 40
Later that night...
"I just don't understand." I shout as I cry into Jessica's pillow. Jessica rolls her eyes as she hands me my 37th tissue.
"Thanks." I say as I take the tissue and blow my nose.
"Riley, you need to get over him." She pleads.
"But I can't! He's mad at me for something that I did that I had no idea was going on!"
"Maybe it's for the best." She implies.
"Why on earth would it be for the best?" I ask.
"Because, I told you from the beginning he wasn't right for you." She pleads again.
I look over at her with while my mascara is still running down my face.
"Then who is?" I ask. She looks down at her feet and hesitates for a moment.
"Exactly." I say. She looks back up at me and watches as I smash my face back into the pillow.
I can hear her getting up from the bed and walk a little closer to me.
"Do you want to do something to make you feel better, and get your mind off that pig?" She asks politely.
"Sure." I groan.
"Okay I'm going to get us something to drink first. Do you prefer coffee or tea?" She asks.
"Tea." I whine. She nods her head and leaves the room.
I try to lift myself up from my position but fail. So instead I just flip over onto my back and stare at her ceiling. The entire room is all pink. She has several pictures of herself, Kurt, Blaine, and I that I didn't even realise we had taken. There are a lot more pictures of just her and I than anything else. It was funny. I didn't realise I was so important to her, or maybe it was just coincidence.
I check my phone and notice I have several notifications. None of them were from people I cared about so I didn't even bother to open them. I put my phone down when I notice Jessica had come back into the room holding one small cup of tea and a larger cup of coffee.
"Here you go." She smiles as she hands me the cup of tea. I lean up from my position as she hands me the hot cup of tea.
"Thank you." I say with my stuffy nose.
She sits down on the bed beside me and watches as I slowly blow and sip on my tea. I pear my head at her in bewilderment on why she's looking at me. She smiles at me then quickly takes a sip on her drink.
"So... Let's chat." She says. I raise my eyebrows as I take one last sip on my tea and place it on the bedside table next to me.
"Yeah sure." I say as I pull my hair behind my ear.
"So, how are you feeling?" She asks me.
"Shitty, like always." I say.
"We'll let's talk about our future to get rid of that shitty feeling." She says softly. I furrow my eyebrows in confusion.
"Why our future?" I ask.
"I don't know. It was just a random thought." She answers.
