Chapter 27
"I swear to god Harry do not paddle far!" I scream while trying my hardest to paddle over to Harry on my kayak.
"Babe, you have to keep up with me!" He shouts and laughs.
"I'm trying! It's not my fault I have weak arms!" I shout. He laughs even more.
"Yes it is! Work out more!" He kids. I roll my eyes and attempt to paddle faster.
My rate is impeccable. I look at the water beneath me. I can see different types of fish swimming around underneath. It looks beautiful but creepy at the same time. Harry's paddles seem to be moving as fast as lightning. I pick up the pace a little more.
"HARRY WAIT UP!" I scream. He looks back and notices the distance between us. He stops paddling and just floats as he waits for me to come closer. I struggle to catch up but I manage.
Once our boats meet Harry looks into my eyes and shakes his head.
"What?" I ask.
"You're so sad." He laughs.
"I just haven't kayaked in a while that's all. I bet i'll beat you on the way back." I say feeling cocky.
"If you say so." He implies.
He takes off his ray bands and throws them into his boat. He strips off his life jacket revealing his several beautiful tattoos and jumps right into the water.
He gets me damp when he hits the water. He floats underwater for a few seconds then comes up for air. His once curly hair is now drenched and silky on top of his head. He whips his hair releasing tons of droplets of water to fly over on to my now wet skin as he swims up to my kayak and puts his hands on the edge. I look into his beautiful green eyes.
"Hop in." He says. I shake my head no.
"Why not?" He winces.
"You know I can't swim for my life." I say as I hunch over and put my hands and chin on the corner of the kayak. Harry's hands reaches for my hair and takes it out of its hair elastic to let it fall. He brushes his finger tips through the strands of my hair and pulls it behind my ear.
"Well technically I don't know you can't swim for your life. I've only heard you say that you can't swim for your life. The day you pushed me in the pool you looked like you could swim perfectly fine." He says as he looks me in eye.
"That's only because I was in a shallow pool." I say. He shrugs his shoulders while he's still holding on to the edge of my kayak. His eyes move away from mine and looks past my face. He lets out a big gasp and point his finger.
"Babe, look there's like four hawks swirling around." He shouts. I look behind me quickly because I am quiet interested to see this. Out of no where, two large, wet, and muscular arms wrap around my body and pull me into the water. I let out a big scream right before I was dragged into the cold lake.
I don't submerge very far thanks to my life jacket. Harry reaches the surfaces and whips his hair once more.
"WHAT THE HELL HARRY?!" I shout. I have gross lake water in my mouth which taste horrifying.
"See, look you got in the water. Now just take off that clunky life jacket." He says with a smile.
"NEVER!" I shout. He reaches for the strap on the life jacket. "Harry, don't you dare!" I snap.
Harry unstraps the life vest causing me to submerge into the water with no support. Im only about two feet underneath the water when I feel two hands drag me back up to the surface. I wrap my arms around Harry's neck because I have nothing else to grab on too.
My breathing is heavy and my heart is pounding on my chest. Harry uses his legs to tread the water. He has both of his hands around my waist but moves one of them up to my hair to move it away from my eyes. He looks me deeply in the eyes trying to get me to calm down.
"Hey, Hey, Riley. Calm down. It's alright. I've got you." He says with a soothing voice. My eyes shoot in all different directions. I still can't focus. Harry moves his hand away from my hair and down to my chin.
"Calm down." He says soothingly once more. I finally make eye contact with him and slow down my breathing. "I've got you." He says.
I run my fingers through damp hair. He gives me a quick smile. I leans in closer to me and plants a long kiss on my lips. Our lips move together in sync. He submerges underwater and brings me with him as our lips never leave contact. He lets bubbles fly out of is nostrils which tickle my face a little. I never move my lips from his.
His hair floats around in the water. The feeling of his tendrils are gone. I can feel the fish skimming against my legs. I really don't pay attention to them because the sensational feeling of his lips is the only thing going through my mind. His hands move lower down my body. My lips move away from his but his lips just move down to my neck. I need to take a breath of air but I'm not sure If Harry needs to yet. He quickly pulls away from my neck and pushes the both of us back to the surface. He looks at me once more as he lets out multiples of breath. I do the same.
He kisses my cheek once more as he treads the water. I bite my lip a little.
"Race you back to the campsite?" He says with a charming tone.
"Your on." I say. I quickly swim over to my kayak that has floated a few feet away and use my strength to pull myself up into the boat and paddle my way over to the shore.
