"Everybody wants happiness, nobody wants pain. But you can't have a rainbow without a little rain."

As soon as the bell went, I made my way out of my noisy classroom and I sprinted over to where Sean said he was going to meet me. He wasn't there. Then again what was I expecting, the bell only went a minute ago.
I waited.
"Where is he? It's been ten minutes!" I mumbled aloud to myself. "He's not coming, is he?"
What did I do? Did I say something to upset him? Maybe he doesn't know where we are meeting- no if he was looking we would have seen each other by now. What could have happened? Where is he?
I waited in the same spot until I had to go to my lesson. He didn't show up. I would try and catch him on the way out of school. If not, I have a lesson with him tomorrow.
The whole day I was thinking about Sean. He seemed so happy that I was willing to meet with him. So why didn't he show?
The bell went to signify the end of school and the teacher dismissed us. I left the classroom in a hurry to find Sean. As soon as I left the building I saw him. He was walking quickly to the main entrance with his head down. "Sean!" I shouted as I ran to catch up. He stopped but didn't look up. I wanted to ask him why he didn't meet up with me, but, "Sean what's wrong?" I asked. I put my hand under his chin and lifted his head up gently. "Oh my god, Sean!" His lip had been cut and there was dry blood, where it had been dripping down his face from a cut on his head. "How could you let them do this to you?" He moved my hand away from his face and started walking even faster than before, so I had to run to keep up. I grabbed his arm without thinking. "Don't worry, they're going to get what's coming to them, they won't get away with this, I won't let them" I let go of his arm and looked around for any sight of the boys. There was none. "Mark, don't" I was so angry. Why? Why would they do that? I would fight them, this time I wouldn't give up. I will never give up. Sean means more to me than that. I looked at him. Realising he wasn't getting an answer he said "Mark, please. They were just having a laugh" this made me even angrier, I burst out "THAT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE 'A LAUGH!'" I pointed at the bandage covering his eye. I knew everyone within ears distance had stopped and we're watching but I was too angry to care. "YOU CAN'T LET THEM DO THIS TO YOU!"
"Mark" he said calmly, looking around at the crowd I was having no trouble ignoring.
"YOU WON'T BE THEIR PUNCHING BAG ANY LONGER!" The anger was boiling in my stomach and I could feel my face going purple.
"Mark calm down"
"HOW!" I stopped shouting with great difficulty. "How exactly am I supposed to calm down while they stand there and do this to you?" Tears started to form in my eyes. "Sean I care about you, I want them to stop using you like this". For the first time I became aware of the crowd circling us. "Could you please not" people started to file out, slowly, one by one.
Once they had all finally cleared Sean collapsed to the floor and started to cry, I saw him like this, this morning. I don't know how much more of this I can take. I knelt down beside him once more. "Sean, I'm so sorry, I didn't want to make a scene"
"I care about you too and I don't want you getting into fights because of me" he said, almost choking up half way through. We sat in silence for thirty seconds which seemed like minutes.
"Are you okay?" I asked.
"I'm fine"
"Are you sure?"
"Mark, I'm sorry I couldn't meet you. I-"
"It's fine, we can meet any time"
"I guess"
I looked around our deserted campus. There was no one anywhere within distance. We sat on the floor in the middle of the path. No one minded.
"Mark" Sean said
"Mhmm" I answered
"Thank you"
"For what?"
"For being here with me, it means more to me than you could imagine"
"Well in that case, I thank you too" I looked up at him and he smiled at me. His eye was red and puffy but his smile was as beautiful as ever. He started to stand up. "Where are you going?"
"Mark, we can't stay here forever, besides my dad would be worrying, you know, after Friday..." His voice trailed off.
"Yeah you're right" I stood up too.
"We will meet tomorrow, I promise" he said once we were both standing.
"Same place, same time"
"Yep" he said a smile plastered back onto his face. I like him better like this.
"I'll see you tomorrow then" I said as we started to walk in opposite directions.
"Yeah, see you tomorrow".
