Carsons pov

"What happened?" I asked. Fearing the worst.

"He stopped breathing." Katana says. "But after a couple minutes of chest compressions, he started breathing again." She says with a tiny smile.

A silence then filled the air.

"He woke up a couple minutes before and started screaming your name." Alex whispers as he looks like he's about to cry harder.

"Oh." Is all I can say.

The room in now a tensely silent.

"Érchontai gia na pethánei!" Screamed Damon's body.

His eyes flashed open and he looked over at me.

"Carson." He says as he reached his hand out to me.

I reach out and take his hand. Suddenly I'm taken to a field. I look around but find no one. All that is surrounding me is bright green grass. No flowers or trees. Simply just grass.

"Hello!" I shout.

"Hello my child." A women says as she appears.

"Who are you?" I ask.

"I am the moon goddess my dear." She responds with a smile.

"Why?" I growl.

"Why what darling?" She asks so confused.

"Why did you do all this to me. To my family!" I shout.

She looks taken aback. She open and closes her mouth like a fish out of water.

"Why do you have to make me chose?" I whisper.

"Because. It's my test to see if your mother has picked the right child. You can not be weak, you also have to take the crown. You have to make the right choices." She explains as if it was the most simple thing to ever exist.

"So I could be the wrong girl, good cause I want out. As much as I hate to admit," I pause and take in a deep breath. " I would rather run away than chose" I say the last part lowly.

"Your heart has picked, and so has your brain, but who will you chose?" She asks.

"What if I chose Ethan, I still have to face Avri." I say.

"That's why Damon is in this coma, he is being switched to your new protector. I realize now having a protector and a mate can be.. a hassle." She responds. "It's called the legends of shadow miss for a reason. Not every one can pass the tests. But I need to see what you are capable of."

"But why? Why all the tests and the torment. Couldn't there have been something else, like I- I don't know something that doesn't make me want to die?" Sassing the moon goddess probably wasn't the best idea, but honestly. I'm so over her damn tests.

"Nothing in life comes easy Carson." She tries to be all wise.

"Like I didn't know that." I say with sarcasm while rolling my eyes. "Can you let us out now." I ask.

"Yes but one more th-" she says trying to get serious.

"What." I growl. Already tired of this.

"You know how I said you had 4 months at the beginning?" She questioned and looked at me, "yeah well now, you only have a month left." She lowly spoke.
