(Third Person's POV)

Killian awoke from his slumber from the hot sun beating through his window. He stretched his arms wide and sat up. Then it hit him. He had to propose to Emma today. Today could potentially be the biggest day of his life. The topic had kept him up for most of the night. What if she says no? What would he do if he had to marry a stuck-up princess?

"Killian, dear, its time to wake up!" His mother called as she walked through his door. "You have a big day today!"

He grunted in exhaustion. "Don't I know it."

"Oh Killian, it's not so bad. Your father and I's marriage was arranged and we are happy."

"I know but I have already found someone and I feel like it is much too soon to propose. I only met her 2 days ago." He let out a long sigh.

"Well you know your father and he will not let up on his bargain."

"I know but if I fail tonight all of the eligible princesses are not appealing. I wish this was a whole lot easier. Just choose whomever I fall in love with and live a simple life."

"Killian, you are to become King so you will never have a simple life. Whoever you decide to wed, I believe that she will support you and be an amazing queen." She gives Killian a hug before leaving.

Meanwhile, at Emma's house, a dispute was rising.

"Emma, you are nothing but a dirty maid. I forbid you to go to that ball and embarrass my daughters." Cora spat at Emma.

Those words drove deep inside Emma. Dirty maid. She was much more than that.

"I will find a way. I will not let you bring me down. You may throw harsh words at me and damage me but I will always get back up. Watch and one day escape your grasp and be so much more than you could ever imagine. I will never let you hurt me any more. I am going to that ball whether you like it or not. You cannot beat me to the ground and expect me not to get back up again." Emma fought.

"Remember this, I give you food and shelter. I can take it away whenever I want to. So if you don't obey my rules, you can die for all I care." Cora said as she grasped onto Emma's wrist while digging her nails into her skin.

Emma ripped her hand away. "I will never serve you again. I will survive without you if I must."

Cora tilted her head back and rubbed her eyes. "I really had hoped I didn't have to do this." Emma gave her a confused look. Cora twisted her wrist and no later, shackles were formed on Emma's hand.

"What a waste of my magic that was. Those are enchanted so no matter how hard you try to escape they will not open without magic. Now come with me the girls need help getting ready." As Cora started walking, a long chain formed connection from her hand to the shackles. Emma's heart was broken. How could she ever escape now?

As the door leading into Zelena and Regina's room opened, the 2 girls looked over and gasped. Cora dragged Emma across the room and linked her onto the floor between the 2 vanities. She left the room with a turn and slammed the door.

"Emma, what happened?" Regina asks.

"Cora forbid me from attending the ball and when I revolted, this happened." Her head drooped low as she started doing Regina's hair. "How will I ever seen Killian again?"

"Don't worry love will find a way. It always does." Zelena says.

"Thanks Z." Emma replies solemnly.

Emma's heart was heavy with sorrow. How could she ever see Killian again? She may not even have any chance of escaping now. She had almost completely given up one of the most important things anyone can have. Hope.
