Kyle/John POV;
I gaze back at the unconcise woman in the back. Colton is right, she's going to be pissed. I have knocked her out twice in just the last twelve hours.
From what I've seen from Samantha during our time together is that she won't go down without a fight. It will be a living hell when she wakes up and demands answers.
"What are we going to do now?" Colton asks me.
I sigh and shake my head, feeling tired of this situation.
"We can't let her out of our sight now. If they get her I won't be able to live with myself, knowing I let an innocent person get killed," I say and he nods in agreement.
"How did you know they were there?" He asks me.
I glance at him, finding him with a serious expression. It's weird to see this side of him. Colton is always happy or joking his way out of things, but now he's completely cold.
"One of their sniper's suits had something on them that got reflected by the sun. I saw the person pointing his gun at Sam, but he didn't shoot. My guess is that they hid a bomb under the coat to see if she would get killed by that. They probably think she has a connection with me," I explain as I take a turn into our base.
I put my fingers on the finger scan as the guard watch us intently.
"Name?" He asks.
Even if we just gave our finger prints they still need to check our voices.
"Kyle Williams," I say and glance at Colton.
"Colton Levy," he says, still serious as he glances at Sam in the backseat. The guard doesn't ask any question about her after he sees it's us.
We are on one of the highest ranked team in this division so no one asks us why we do things, except for our boss.
We drive inside and park the car. Both of us gets out and walk to the back, opening the door to find Sam lying on her side. I hear Colton sigh beside me and I turn my focus to him. He frowns at me for a little.
"Does she?" He suddenly asks.
"Does she what?" I ask as I pull Sam into my arms, carrying her bridal style. Her head rests by the crook of my neck and I feel her snuggle closer to me.
Naw, how cute.
No, don't think that.
"Does she have connection to you?"
I look at him for a while before sighing, with a shake on my head.
"Without her you would be bringing me here in a body bag. But she has nothing to do with this," I say and study every feature on her pale face.
"I know, and we will keep her safe."
With that both of us walks inside the building, getting weird stares from our co-workers. I get to my office and lay her down on the couch before sitting down in my chair.
God, I'm tired.
If it weren't for these damn terrorists I would have been on a beach somewhere, enjoying my holiday.
But then you wouldn't have met her. An irritating voice whispers in the back of my mind.
I sigh and run a hand over face. I have to admit that the woman that is currently lying on the couch, just a few feet away, has made one hell of an impression on me through out these few hours.
