In My Book

Now Nelson reached the digging site.  They were a couple of tents already there with others that were there to help Nelson.     "Sir, this blue tent is where you can keep your work.  No one will bother you here," said Timothy his assistant as he started putting Nelson food and supplies away.

Johnathan woke up when he realized that the wagon stopped.   He peeked out to check if the coast is clear.  As soon as he got the chance, he ran out from the wagon and ran down the sand into his father's tent.  He quickly ran under the cot, waiting for his father to finished what he was doing.      

Nelson continued to put his things away, while all the time his son was under the cot.    When he was done, his assistant and Nelson headed to the digging site.    Johnathan was left alone.  He quickly grabbed something to eat from his father cooler.  When he was done eating. He put a small cloth over his head and headed out of the tent.    He slowly walked behind the other men trying not to be noticed.     He arrived at the site where his father workers were digging.   "Look, Mr. Nelson, we found a couple of artifacts over here.  Can you help us clean them?'asked Timothy as he handed  Nelson some tools.   Johnathan saw where his father was, so he quickly ran into a large,  five-foot deep hole.      He looked out every few minutes making sure he was not seen.  

 Then he stepped on something that didn't feel like a rock.    "Hey, what's this," said Johnathan as he dug out a small book.  "Hey, what is this, cool  I have something to read when Dad realizes I'm here he's going to punish me for a long while.     Then he started to step out of the hole when he lost his step and landed back into the hole.  The dirt started to cover him.  Johnathan started to scream for help.  The other diggers heard his cry and quickly ran in that direction.  When they got there all they can see was one of Johnathan's feet.   

"Hey, you guys, I think a kid fell into the hole.  someone came and help me get him out," said Timothy    Quickly a couple of diggers approached Timothy and gave him a hand digging the kid out.   When they finally got him out, "Hey, this is a white kid, he must have just got here look, he doesn't even have a tan." Julio one of the worker yelled.   Johnathan glance at them then thought, "Boy, now I'm really going to be in trouble."      

Nelson noticed the crowd, so he walked over to find out what was keeping his man from working.   "Alright guys, break it up,  back to work." he said as he got closer to the crowd    The men then move out of the way, "Look what we found stuck in that hole.  Do you know this kid?" said Timothy   "Johnathan!   What in the world are you doing here?  I left you with your sister and Christ.  You know they're going to be crazy looking for you.  What is wrong with you.  You always listen, and now that I need to trust you, you're not listening.  Don't you know that these holes are dangerous, You're lucking my men seen you, you could have been buried alive." explained Nelson while grabbing his ear and walking him to his tent.  

 The other men began to laugh.  "It not funny," said Johnathan with some tears running down his face.  "That's all you have to say, it's not funny.  Believe me, I know it's not funny.  Now you're going to my tent, I don't want to see nor hear you.  You really disappointed me.  One thing I want you to remember, you're never too old for a whooping.  Understand young man!" his father as continued screaming   "Dad,  I'm sorry." said Johnathan with a puppy eye look    "Sorry, my job is what puts food on our table.  Sorry is not going to cut it.  Stay here until we're ready to go back." said Nelson   Johnathan didn't say another word.  He then laid on the cot, and after a while, he fell asleep.

   Meanwhile, Tina and Christ were wondering what happen to him.  "Have you found him yet?'asked Christ   "No, I've looked everywhere,  I know my brother, somehow I feel he left with dad without, dad knowing.  Stop looking for him and call my father." said Tina   But before they can call Nelson.   Nelson called them on a two-way radio, to inform them what had happened.  Johnathan knew he was in big trouble, he remembered the book he found.  He quickly hid it inside his pants.  "If Dad sees this book, he takes away from me before I'll be able to read it." he thought to himself.  When his father walks and as they got ready to head back.

Nelson packed up his things and he woke up Johnathan and they all headed back, to Tina.  They finally arrived, and Nelson pushed Johnathan, and send him to bed.
