DOUBLE UPDATE! :) X

        *Sabrina's POV*

The next day, Monday, comes and I'm picking up Marcel for school just like every other day. He hurries out of his house, his mother giving me a happy wave from the doorway, to which I happily return the gesture. Marcel climbs in my car, rubbing his hands together by the heater.

“Hi.” He says quietly, not making eye contact as I pull out onto the main roads to take the regular route to school.

“Hi.” I reply through a heavy breath. He's still acting weird, and I feel like I did something wrong. I'm just suddenly too damn shy to ask what the hell I did to make him go back to his normal timid self. We had such a great start yesterday morning.

“Something wrong?” I glance over to see he is looking at me for the first time since... well, since he left my house yesterday morning.

“No.” I shake my head, keeping my eyes focused on the road ahead.

“Are you sure?” He surprises me with a hand to my thigh, something he normally wouldn't do.

“I'm fine, Marce.” I give him a reassuring smile, and he nods with his own small smile. It's not a real smile, though, I know 100%. His dimples didn't even show, and the brightness of his smile didn't reach his eyes like they usually do. It was fake, only a polite reply to my smile.

What has happened?

I know I'm going to have to talk with him in the library.

We go to the others' locker once we get into school, sadly having to pass Jake and his bitches. I glare at them as I hold Marcel close to me by our linking arms, and we go to his safe place.

“Marcel, we need to talk.” I say firmly once we sit at our table in the library.

“Um, o-okay.”

I heave out a sigh before I start.

“Did I do something wrong? I mean, we were doing so well yesterday morning and then you were in a rush to leave all of a sudden.”

He lets out his own deep sigh, surprising me slightly when he takes both my hands and faces me, but I am comforted by the gesture as his massive hands blanket my small ones.

“You didn't do anything wrong. I promise.” What a relief.

“Then what's wrong? You've been quiet and timid, and I feel like we're starting back at square one.” I am almost begging him like a needy girlfriend, it's pathetic.

“It's just...” Another sigh, “Yesterday when Zayn said he was going to set up you and Liam, I got freaked out because I don't want you and Liam together, even though he's a nice guy, I couldn't handle it if you and him-”

He is speaking so fast, rambling on and on and I just have to cut him off.

“Whoa, Marcel! Slow down!” I laugh, scooting closer to him. “I'm not going to get with Liam. I already said I'm not interested. I will talk with Zayn, hopefully he hasn't said anything to Liam yet... But honestly, Marce, I'm not interested in him. I wouldn't do that to you. Okay?” I raise my eyebrows, asking for confirmation that he understands. He answers with a nod, and I leave a kiss to his forehead.

“Okay.”

****

“Louis!” I call out in the hallway. He's walking to class alone and I'm glad I caught him. I really want to come clean about lying, and then apologize for lying...

He turns at the sound of my voice, a kind smile spreading on his lips as he meets me halfway, walking the opposite direction of the way he was heading.

“Hey, Sabrina!”

“Hi.”

“We really missed you at the kickback, it was so sick! How are you feeling?”

“Um, about that... I have a confession.” He nods for me to continue, his blue eyes holding curiosity. “I didn't really have the stomach flu. I just said that because I was staying with Marcel that night, since he really didn't want to go. I don't really know why I made up such a pathetic excuse, but I'm really sorry.” I let out a breath, thankful that the weight is finally off of my chest.

“It's okay, honestly. I understand that a party isn't really where Marcel belongs, and it's nice that you stayed with him.”

“It's nice that you invited him, though! I know it meant a lot to him, even if he was literally dreading going to the kickback.”

“He's a nice guy. Hopefully he'll warm up to us soon. But thank you for apologizing, I really should go to class.” I nod, getting a warm bear hug from the boy before we say our goodbyes and he is off to his class, and I do the same.

                                           ****

“Hey guys!” I say when Marcel and I get to the lunch table filled with our new friends. We received a bunch of hellos and the usual 'we missed you on Saturday', as Marcel and I sit beside each other.

“Sorry we couldn't be there.” Marcel says to them, making progress. He usually doesn't speak unless spoken to. He'll fully warm up to the nice group of people eventually, just like he warmed up to me. It'll just take a bit of time.

“It's all good, man. We understand.” Louis nods, giving me a sly wink as Marcel looks around the table to the other smiling faces.

“Th-Thanks...” He shyly says, and I rub his knee, knowing it's one of the few actions I've discovered comforts him.

I throw myself into a conversation with Eleanor and Perrie, completely blocking out anyone else, except for Marcel. Even though he still isn't speaking unless spoken to by the other boys, he keeps my hand held tightly in his under the table. He rests both of our hands on his knee casually as we talk.

And I can't help but feel complete joy at the simple gesture.
