*Marcel's POV*
I'm really starting to feel comfortable around Sabrina's friends. They're really nice, and they can make anyone feel warm and welcome so naturally. I love how I can sit here and laugh with them like we've known each other for longer than the forty-five minutes it's been. It's good to know that not everyone is mean like Jake and the conformists that are the other teenagers at our school.
I finally meet Sabrina's parents for the first time, about an hour later. They're so nice, really lovely people.
Hours later and it's already time for me to go, as dinner at home should be ready for me soon.
“Why don't you stay for dinner?” Sabrina offers with that smile that you shall never deny.
“O-Oh no, I couldn't.” I shake my head a bit vigorously. Her mother, Marie approaches us from the living room.
“No, it's fine! We were just gonna order pizza.” She pipes in, waving it off. I am now cornered, but I can't say no.
“Okay, I'll call my mother.” Sabrina claps excitedly while Marie goes off to order the pizza for us all, and Sabrina skips like the adorable little cupcake she is into the living room to sit with the others again.
I dial my mother's number, her voice coming through the speaker as she answers after three rings.
“Hello Marcel! Are you on your way home for dinner?”
“Um, no. Actually, Sabrina invited me to stay for dinner, is that alright?” I feel a bit bad; I've never missed a dinner with my family.
"Of course that's alright, sweetie! Tell her I say hello!" My mother is always so cheery, it never fails to put a smile on my face.
"I will mother. See you soon."
"Have fun, I love you."
"I love you too, bye."
She hangs up the phone after that and I shove my iPhone in my back pocket, joining everyone in the living room again.
"So Marcel, how did you meet my daughter?" Her dad, Vic asks me, as if I was her boyfriend or something.
"Dad..." She moans, glaring at him like I would to my mother or Gemma when they embarrass me in front of Sabrina.
"Um, at school." I answer. He starts chuckling his deep laugh.
"I know that. But-"
"Dad, please don't interrogate the poor guy." Sabrina's fingertips rub her forehead and I chuckle softly.
"Alright, alright." He laughs again, holding his hands up in mock surrender as he backs off and leaves the room.
"I'm sorry about that. I think he thinks you're my boyfriend." She blushes. A lot. "You know how dads are." She says as a generality, but I really don't. I never really went through that with my dad, neither did Gemma when she had her first boyfriend at age sixteen. Instead, I only nod at her. She turns her attention away from me to type at her phone, and I leave her to it.
"Pizza will be here in 30 minutes!" Marie says to all of us and Niall cheers loudly.
"Sabrina, you know I don't eat pizza." I tell her softly, not wanting to be rude.
"Have you ever eaten pizza?" She brings her attention back to me, off her phone for a second.
"When I was a kid." I shrug.
"Just try it this one time and then you can run it off." She half-teases with a playful smirk and I shove her lightly, the both of us laughing.
"Fine, this one time." I hold up my first finger at her, showing my point and she nods.
About thirty minutes later and the pizza arrives. I'm actually starving so I'm not too worried about what I'm eating. And like Sabrina said, I can always run off the calories.
Gosh, I sound like a girl!
We all eat happily around the living room, and everyone else seems like one big happy family, what with Niall's and Jade's parents being here too. I can only imagine what Christmas will be like, mixing in my own family.
And the pizza was actually really good. I told Sabrina that and she laughed in my face and said "I told you so", which she didn't but I let her have her laugh.
"Thank you for dinner." I mannerly say to Marie when it's about time I get home.
"Oh, no problem Marcel! You're welcome over for dinner anytime, when we actually have a meal." She laughs, and I chuckle along. She leaves me and Sabrina by the front door and I see everyone getting ready to leave, or getting ready for bed—that is, Niall, Jade and Zayn.
"Stay with me tonight." Sabrina whispers in my ear, having a light grasp on my arm and I look down at her in bafflement.
"C'mon, my parents might be going out for drinks with Niall's and Jade's, it'll be just us. Everyone else is going to bed. Please?" She's coaxing me in again.
"And I have a surprise for you." She grins widely, her body swaying side to side adorably, like a child trying to use her cuteness to charm her way into letting her mom buy her a doll.
"But I told my mom-"
"Nope, I already texted her. She said it's fine if you stay. Come on Marcel." I swear, she gives the toughest peer pressure. She can probably get anyone to do anything for her, it's actually lethal.
It's her eyes. That's the key to all her pressure.
"Fine."
"Well, don't make it sound so awful!" She teases and I laugh, realizing I did make it sound like a punishment, mumbling an apology while she kisses my cheek.
