As I'm putting the cookies in the oven I hear the door being opened. I grab a knife and hold it in front of me in case it's an intruder. I slowly trail towards the door.
"AHHH" My mother screams in unison with me.
"Put that damn thing down Ellis!" My mom commands.
"Well it would be nice if you gave me a warning I thought you were an intruder." I say.
"Yeah because a killer has a key to your apartment." She says.
"They could." I say chuckling a little.
"What is that smell?" My mom says.
"Oh I'm baking cookies." I say.
"You are baking cookies? What's the occasion?" My mom says grinning.
"Oh no occasion, just wanted to bake." I say.
"You haven't baked since Justin left you." My mom says.
"Mom, that's because he was allergic to flour." I say.
"The only thing that boy was allergic to was hard work and being faithful. Would this happen to have anything to do with your new beau?" Mom questions.
"Maybe.." I say chuckling.
"Did you do the deed?" My mom says.
"Mom ew, TMI stop." I say.
"So you did huh.. how was he?" She says.
"He was amazing." I say.
"Did you use protection?" My mother questions.
"Of course I di-, wait, no I didn't." I say.
My moms eyes widen
"YES! I'M FINALLY GOING TO BE A GRANDMOTHER!" She exclaims.
"Mom this isn't funny I didn't think to use anything, we were too into the moment. Wait, I shouldn't worry about it me and Justin never used anything and I didn't get pregnant." I say.
"Listen Ellis, us women in this family get pregnant every time we have unprotected sex and if we don't the man is infertile." Mom says.
"Justin wasn't infertile." I say.
"Had to of been, you have my genes, we get pregnant just looking at men if you know what I mean." She says.
"Mom no, I know I won't get pregnant I'm fine..." I say.
"You don't sound convinced." My mom says while laughing.
She doesn't know that yesterday was all an act and last night was practically a one night stand. What am I going to do? I know Braylen said he liked me but that doesn't mean he wants to have a kid with me.
I'm not going to put too much thought into it, I didn't get pregnant the 4 years Justin and I were together and I never heard of him being infertile so I know I am fine, I think to myself. I give mom a kiss and hug goodbye and I begin contemplating what I would do if I fell pregnant from last night or this morning's activities.
