I watch as the hours slowly pass on the clock. Finally at 1pm I decide to take a luch.

I go to the cafeteria and see Jessica sitting at a table for two. I grab a cheddar broccoli soup from the buffet table and go sit by her.

"Hey Jess."

"Hey stranger haven't seen you down here for lunch in a while, I saw Braylen in your office, what was that about?" She asks while looking at me intently.

"Oh nothing out of the ordinary, he was just checking on one of the cases."

When he came out he had a smile from ear to ear, are you sure that was all he was doing?"

"Not to be rude but is it really any of your business what he was or wasn't doing in my office?"

"I thought we were friends Ellis but I don't care, I won't warn you."

Every part of me wanted to ask her what was she going to warn me about but I was not going to psych myself out until there was something to worry about.

"I appreciate your concern Jessica but I like to keep somethings private." I say.

"Look Ellis, truth is you're just another one of his office conquests, he's going to smash you and pass you just like he has every other girl in this firm including me."

"Jessica I don't like how you're speaking to me nor do I have to stand for it, take your attitude somewhere else because I don't have room for it in my life."

"You're surely delusional if you think someone like c Braylen would ever go for someone like you."

"Maybe I am delusional but I'm a good person and if he's worth any of my time he'll see it. I'm sorry that your relationship didn't work out with him but that must just mean it wasn't meant to be."

"Yeah, meant to be, you must not hear yourself, good luck Ellis." Jessica says as she shoots me a dirty as she clicks away on her heels.

I try to finish my lunch without letting her jealous comments get to me.

Once I'm finished with lunch I look up and see Jessica caressing Braylen's arm. Before I can do or say anything I see Braylen pat her on the back and start walking towards me. He sits down in front of me and I have no other choice than to look up from my empty coup of soup.

"Hi."

"Hey there, that soup looks good, what's left of it anyways, what kind is it?" He asks.

"Broccoli and cheddar."

"Oh wow I might have to eat lunch here today." He says with a grin painted in his lips.

"We're still on for tonight right? You're not going to bail on me?" I ask with a joking tone.

"Of course not."

"Alright I'll see you tonight." I smile and wave goodbye to him as I head back to my office.
