Katelyn giggled as she drove with a blindfolded Travis sitting shotgun.
"I still don't get why I'm blindfolded." Travis said, wiggling his face to try and slide the cover so he can see.
"Hey- no peeking!" Katelyn snapped, joking.
"Fine." He gave up and continued asking questions as Katelyn drove.
"Are we almost thereeee?"
"Yes, Travis. We're-" she paused and looked at the GPS. It was a bit far for a simple empty field, but it was worth it. "A few minutes away."
"Away from where?"
"You'll see."
The car finally stopped and the timing couldn't be more perfect. She opened her door, stepped out, and opened Travis' door to lead him out. He kept stumbling which cracked Katelyn up. They finally made it to 'The Spot' and Katelyn took off the blindfold. Travis stared at the field. It was an empty field for miles and miles over the horizon and an empty sky with a sun going down. There was a checkered red and white picnic blanket with a basket, two plates, two sets of silverware, wine glasses, and a bottle of wine.
"Woah. This is."
"Amazing? Yeah. It was perfect timing too; the Suns going down soon but we have enough time to eat."
"Then let's get to it so we don't miss the sunset."
^^^^^^^^^^Meal eating time skip^^^^^^^^^^
The two sat, hand and hand. Travis was sitting facing the sunset and Katelyn was laying her head on his shoulder. The sun was merely poking the flat horizon and yet, the sky was filled with a tainted sky full of different colors. The Suns bright light was just a small glow of yellow that quickly faded to a shade of orange, red, pink, and a slight purple. Travis lifted his other hand to motion to the different shades of color in the sky.
"See how the light just fades away and even without the glow, the colors manage to sweep through the skies so beautifully. It's fascinating and yet, so precious you don't want to question it. It's so remarkable and yet is in different depths of dark and it's ...all here in front of us. That's the beautiful thing about the world and sky; you don't need to own any of it for yourself. You just need to see it, feel it, and live with it and you don't need to have it or it'll take away its glow and how it fills an otherwise empty void of a galaxy. Just. Witness it. And feel it's magic. And glow. And let its beauty overpower your ... busy day, dark thoughts, or even happy life. Just seeing it causes silence among so many people and to me, it's astonishing." Katelyn looks up to Travis who is staring at the sky finishing his thought. She sees the reflection of the glow in his eyes and even a glow of excitement from just seeing the sunset. It was adorable to see him so awestruck by something but also so cute to see him so passionate about it. She looked back up to the sky and watched as the sun disappeared. There it goes, setting off purple, shades of dark blues, and complete darkness.
"That's what I like about the moon," Katelyn starts, going into deep thought about it.
"It's so distant and yet, it glows. Beaming with light just because it's happy to be in the sky. Although it's going around in a never ending dark, dark world, it manages to be the light through the darkness. And even when its light is slim, it's barely there but still trying to be. And when it's all gone, there's still the stars. Though they're light years away, they manage to hold up the light for their buddy who's out of light and shine for us. People are so caught up in the dark abyss of the cruel world we live in and over look the bright stars going out of their way to light the hole. It's all about holding up in the event of darkness; not shining bright when others need you to. Just fighting through, making your way, even if others can't. That's the beauty of it; while just barely managing you can manage to be such light in others dark. Then, this glowing star floats into vision and this dark moon glows brighter, knowing that it has another friend there to help him up. And that's fascinating to me; that this moons going through so much just to make others happy while just trying to manage and not even realizing how much it means to everyone else to the extent of nearly giving up. But when all hopes lost, the moons there. Struggling, but making its way with the stars to guide it. For their sake, but managing to make it so important to 8... billion people." Travis looked to Katelyn. He was surprised to hear this from her and yet, yearned to hear more analytical, deep thoughts from her. He puffed out a breath, In a bit of a laugh.
"What?" She looked up at him with the same glow, the thirst for knowledge yet the need for it to remain a mystery.
"Nothing."
"It's something."
"I have the most lovely view, a good drink, and my beautiful girl by my side. Everything is. Amazing."
She smiled, discarding the sudden fright of there being a problem.
"I'm just impressed."
She looked to him a bit confused.
"I never thought I'd actually ever have the pleasure of having Katelyn under my arm, watching the stars. Being able to say she's 'my girl', having no one else around, just me and her, happy."
"I always thought it would end up this way. You are so incredibly charming, nice, and funny and I knew I wouldn't be able to resist the urge to just walk up to you and kiss that dorky smile off your face."
He chuckled. "I'm not a dork."
"Yeah, you are."
"Can a dork; DO THIS!?!" He grabbed her and threw her waist over his shoulder and ran. Not to any where in particular, just around.
"Let me go!" She yelled through her laughs.
"Make me!" Suddenly he tripped and fell flat on the ground with her on top of him. They both laughed for a moment. Silence crept and they just stared into each others eyes. Not in a weird way; just in a way that they just fell into the ocean deep depths of each others eyes and couldn't get out. She kissed him lightly and layer next to him in the grass.
"What time is it?" She asked. He looked down at his watch.
"10ish."
"Okay. We should head back soon."
"But not yet." He said as he wrapped his arms around her just to have her in the safety of his arms. Just to have complete solitude from stress or sadness and to just lay holding the one he loves gave him a sense of strength. He felt he was in control of the ever changing dark world and he held tightly to what mattered; Katelyn. It was perfect. Because perfection doesn't last, perfection described the moment. Not just this moment; just the moment of life. The moment of joy he grabbed before the end was enough. Enough to say "He died young, but happy." And yet, it wasn't enough. Its never enough. It's always he was too young and always more depressing every time it was mentioned. They can't even speak of what happened to her, though. But yes, perfection. That's what it was. That's all it can ever be.

Dark twist of narration after the end of the book :/. Someone thought t was the end. It's not. I'm obviously gonna write every tear dropping detail about it xD. GG. Sorry for confusion. Narration getting ahead of itself.
