The clock ticks as I sit in my seat. I watch as my teacher looks at his watch then back at the papers in front of him. I pull out my phone and see my friends texts,
"Where are you?"
"Have a good weekend." Says my teacher.
I bolt out the door before everyone else.
"Nora! Wait." I hear.
I look and see Nathan running up to me.
"Are we still going to the movies?" He asks.
"Yes, and you're driving." I say.
"I know, I'll pay too." He says.
"No no, I'll pay for my ticket." I say.
"We'll just see what happens." He says.
I smile. I hug him.
"Bye." I say as I wave.
"Bye." He says.
I go outside the school and get in my car and drive home. I change into casual clothes and walk to the park in the middle of town.
"There you are!" Says Meg.
"Sorry, my teacher held us after." I say.
"It's ok." She says.
We walk over to the lake and buy tickets for the fairy. We get on and it starts moving.
"I'm busy this weekend so after this I need to go home." She says.
"Ok, I'm just gonna be alone all weekend. Except Saturday night I'm going to the movies with Nathan." I say.
"Ooh is he gonna be your boyfriend?" She says nudging me.
"I don't know!" I say blushing.
"Nora, your 16 and you haven't gotten a boyfriend yet! Of course he's gonna ask you." She says.
"Well... I guess." I say.
We laugh. We sit as the fairy boat keeps moving along the water.
---------------
I walk through town to get back to my house and pass by an alley. I hear someone cry out and look down the alley. A kid is beating up another little kid.
"Hey!" I say.
The kid looks at me and runs. The other kid falls to the ground hurt.
I run up to the kid.
"Are you ok?" I say helping him up.
"No... He hurt me..." He says.
"Oh I'm sorry. Do you know where you mom is?" I say.
"Yes, thank you." He says.
He walks out back into the sidewalk outside the alley and disappears.
I stand up and feel something hit my head.
"Ouch."
I look down and see a necklace laying on the ground. I pick it up and look around. I see a door with a sign above it.
The Antique Store
I walk over and the doors locked.
I look at the necklace and put it on. I walk home and keep thinking about the store.
I sit down on the couch when I get home and my dog sits next to me. I look for the tv remote and see its in the other side of the room. I throw my head back and moan.
"Why!" I say.
I reach my arm out as if I could use magic to make it come to me. But it flies into my hand and I gasp. I drop the remote and jump up.
"What... The..." I say.
My dog tilts its head in confusion. I walk over to a mirror and look at myself.
"I look normal..."
I try to pick up a cup and it floats. I look back at the mirror and the necklace I found is glowing. I widen my eyes. I drop the cup.
CRASH
"What was that?" I hear my mom say.
I quickly pick it up and tuck the necklace inside my shirt.
"Sorry, I just dropped a cup." I say.
"Oh Nora please be careful I can't replace everything you break." She says.
She sets groceries on the table and goes to her room. I sigh.
I sit back down on the couch and turn on the tv.
My dog looks at me.
"What?" I say.
He licks me and I laugh.
I look at the necklace.
"I need to figure this out... And understand... What's going on."
