2) Something New

I sit up straight in my bed. I'm sweating and I grip my blanket.

"It's just a dream.... Its ok.." I say.

I lay back down and close my eyes. I remember what my dream was.

My dad and I walk on the beach. He hands me a sea shell.

"This shell always sounds like the beach." He says.

"Daddy there's a beach in here?!" I say.

"Yes there is." He says smiling.

I smile.

"Thanks daddy." I say as I run up and hug him.

I run over to my mom to show her my shell. She smiles and picks me up.

"Time to go home." She says.

"Awe, but I wanna play more." I say.

"But you need to be in bed soon." Says my dad.

We walk back to our car and I look at the beach one more time.

I sit on the beach years later. I hold the shell my dad gave me. I tear up. I listen to the voicemail my dad left.

"Hi sweetie, I'll be home soon for your birthday! I promise. Don't worry I'll be home in time to give you a present." He says.

I listen to the other voicemail.

"Hello, I'm sorry to say but... Your father was near an explosion and didn't make it out with many of the other soldiers. We can't find his body and we are so sorry...." The man says.

I cry. I hold my knees and just sit in the sand.

I sit up in bed and try to forget about my dream. I go sit in my window seat and watch the sunrise.

I grab my sweatshirt and walk back to the alley I found the necklace in.

I walk through town and the sky becomes cloudy and rain drops start to fall. I walk faster and turn done the alley.

I walk up to the door and take a deep breath. I turn the knob and the door slowly opens.

I carefully walk in and look around. The room is lit from big lamps and lots of antiques sit on tables. I walk down the aisles and see a desk and the end. I stand there and see a bell.

I look around and see no one. So I tap the bell.

"Well hello!" Says a voice.

I look around and see a short old lady appear from behind some shelves.

"Hi..." I say.

"How can I help you?" She says.

"Well... I um... Yesterday I was going through this alley and found this necklace.... I put it on and I can... Make stuff float... When I wear it." I say.

"It's called telekinesis darling." She says.

"Oh..." I say.

"And you're bothered you have powers?" She says.

"Well why did you give it to me?" I say.

"Well... I didn't. Mano did." She says.

"Mano?" I say.

"Yes, I did." Says a voice.

I look around and see a cat walk around on her desk and sit and face me.

"Do you like it?" He asks.

"Y...y...you can... T..talk." I say.

"Don't stutter child, and yes I can." He says.

I blink.

"Want to know why I gave it to you?" He asks.

I nod my head.

"Well, I've needed some new heroes in this town and I saw what you did for that little boy. So I dropped the necklace for you." He says.

"Wait heroes? There's someone else?" I say.

"Yes there is they a...." He begins to say.

The door opens and guy my age steps in. He looks at me then the old lady and Mano.

"Uh...." He says.

"This is him." Says Mano.

"Talking cat..." He blurts out.

I look at him.

"Come here boy." Says the old lady.

He blinks then walks over to the desk.

"Let me see it." Mano says.

"See what...." He says.

"The bracelet." Mano says.

"Oh.. Yeah.. Here." He says.

He takes a bracelet off his wrist and hands it to him.

"May I see your necklace?" He says.

I nod and set it by him.

He pushes them side by side with his paws and the old lady taps them both.

They both glow a light blue and fly over to us. We gasp.

"Well.. They work." Says Mano. "Now what are your names."

"I'm Nora..." I say.

"I'm Kai..." The guy says.

"And tell each other about your powers." Says the old lady.

We look at each other.

"Well I have telekinesis..." I say.

"I have shape shifting." He says.

"And you both will have the ability to fight well." Says the old lady.

"What's your name?" I ask her.

"I'm Patty." She says.

I smile.

"Now you two, whenever those glow that means there's trouble. Always meet in this alley and transform." Mano says.

"Transform?" I ask.

He nods.

"Tap your necklace." He says.

I tap it.

Blue lights fly out and swirl around me. They completely cover me then disappear. I look down and I'm wearing a full suit like a morph suit but the suit is gray with blue swirls and they glow. The sleeves wrap around my index finger covering it, my hair goes up into a pony tail, and the blue swirls glow.

Kai looks at me then his bracelet. He taps it and the same thing happens to him but the lights are black and he's wearing a full black suit and there's orange swirls on his. He has a mask.

I feel my face and see I have a mask on too.

We both look at Mano.

"You're ready."
