Chapter song: Wasting All These Tears by Cassadee Pope

Chapter 7- Nico's POV

I woke up to the annoying sound of my alarm and I opened one eye to look at the time; I had forgotten what I had set my alarm for.

5:48 a.m glowed in blue letters. I groaned and I face palmed myself because of my stupidity.

I used to not be able to sleep, and Desirée had changed that. I was grateful to her for doing that sleep thing that she does.

I got up, took a long, hot shower, and I got dressed in black jeans, a black shirt, and my silver chain belt with my sword on it.

I ran my fingers through my wet, black hair and I jogged up the stairs to the deck. Hazel and the others were already having breakfast.

As I stepped foot on the deck, they gave me an odd look that I understood. I was usually the first one up and this time I was the last one up.

"Good morning. Sleep well?" Hazel asked teasingly.

I chuckled humorlessly and I rolled my eyes. I sat down and I stretched, yawning. Before I could answer Hazel, or at least tell her good morning, Leo told me to go up to the rigging to spot for invaders.

I was used to the cold shoulder from everyone, and I suddenly wished that Desirée was here to keep me company.

She was the only person who had actually stuck around to get to know me, and didn't use me because Percy was my friend.

I don't think she had even met Percy, and she still hung around me. Plus, she was helping us.

I went up to the rigging, and I saw Leo go to the control center that was on the other side of the ship from Hazel and the others.

Annabeth followed him across the ship and I just stood up there, in the rigging. I shrugged and then went up into the mast as I heard Leo yell somewhere below.

And then I saw it. I shouted in surprise, I can't believe I hadn't noticed this before!

I heard Annabeth yelling something to the turtle, but I was to busy gaping at the island of a turtle in front of me.

"Styx- it's huge! Port! Go port!" I yelled.

The turtle took a big bite of the magical oars that used to row themselves. Leo yelled at it furiously.

Hazel and the others came running over to see what the chaos was, and they gasped at the sight.

They started whacking it with everything that they had. Frank ended up losing his sword in the process and he complained to Coach Hedge. He didn't seem to care.

"Try going into that strait!" I screamed at Leo, pointing towards some mountains.

Leo nodded and apparently, we have jet propulsion. We sped away from the giant turtle and we headed to the strait.

The turtle started to make its way back to rear ending us and I scowled. The turtle just suddenly stopped and everyone on deck sighed in content, but I was groaning in agitation.

"Uh, guys. This isn't a strait, it's a dead end." I groaned.

Everyone looked over and they started to panic. Then in remembered- Sciron. And that was about the time that Annabeth was almost pierced by an arrow.

I climbed down from the mast and we all ducked down to avoid any more arrows. But none came.

Frank pointed out a single shooter and we all glared at him simultaneously. Annabeth found a note on the arrow, and she read it aloud. Apparently Sciron is a bandit and we wants all of our valuables.
