Chapter song: The Fortunate by Cartel
Chapter 16- Nico's POV-
~One Week Later~
The ghost army had been here for a week now, and I had been able to spend Christmas with Bianca.
It would've been absolutely perfect if Desirée had been there to celebrate it with both Bianca and I, but I'm still glad that Bianca was there.
It was about two days, including today, until New Years Eve, and I think the war was coming to an end.
Gaea was assembling what was left of her army for today, and I think that was going to be the final string.
Everyone was already in their battle armor, and I do mean everyone. They all believed that today was the last day of the war.
Hazel and Bianca were getting along pretty well, and Annabeth and Percy were still avoiding each other.
I hardly spoke to anyone besides Bianca; I was still a little messed up about Desirée's death. I still had the nightmares too.
The conch shells blew thrice, and once that thought crossed my mind I just wanted to slap myself in the face.
No one says thrice anymore, Nico, I thought to myself, mentally rolling my eyes at my stupidity.
I jogged to catch up with the rest of the army and I put my game face on. Or put my battle face on, as I should say.
We all headed to one of the usual fields and I could see Deimos among us. He had only joined us a few times, so it wasn't too much of a surprise.
The biggest army of Gaea's that I had seen in the few months full of battles stood before us when we arrived.
Gaea screeched a battle cry that resembled that of a banshee, and her army ran towards us with their weapons raised.
The Seven's army, which is us, yelled out and ran towards Gaea's army with our weapons raised as well.
I slashed through monster after monster, and I dodged a pouncing lycanthrope that had its claws extended.
I sheathed my sword and I unsheathed my silver and black iron knife that was strapped to my bicep.
I threw it at the lycanthrope wolf before it could leap at me again, and the knife buried itself deep into its stomach.
It burst into golden dust and I moved onto a different group of monsters who seemed to just be standing there, doing nothing.
They were easy to defeat, but what I hadn't known, was that they burst into flames when they were killed.
Now I have a couple of burns on my arms and I couldn't help but cry out at the pain the burns brought.
The pain of the burns fed my rage, and it helped with the fighting. I knew that I probably should've went to the Apollos, but I didn't care.
I hadn't even cared about the distant ringing sound in my ears. I almost hadn't even heard it at all.
I didn't care about anything really, until an all too familiar scream sounded out around the battle field.
I turned towards it and I watched in utter horror as Hazel crumpled to the ground, a knife sticking out of her chest.
I ran towards her and I almost broke down into tears as Percy indicated that she had no pulse.
I hardly even remember Shadow Traveling to the infirmary with Frank in beside me, carrying a limp Hazel in his arms.
