Chapter 11 (Still Nico's POV)-

Deimos had guided me to where The Seven were, and then, he disappeared in a cloud of grey smoke.

He had spoken to me about Desirée like she was his own daughter. He seemed really fond of her and very proud of her.

Everyone was scared and fidgety; all they wanted was to win, and I, I just wanted to get this over with.

I wanted Desirée to be okay, I wanted to see her, I wanted to hold her in my arms, and I wanted to whisper to her about how much I love her.

Leo, Piper, Jason, Annabeth, Hazel, Frank, and I started out on the route that Gaea thought we would take and we unsheathed our weapons.

We tried our best to not look nervous or suspicious, and the 'ambush' jumped out as the battle plans had told us they would.

And we all had Desirée to thank for that. After all, she had been the one to give the battle plans to us.

Arrows from the bowmen army started picking off some of the monsters as they crowded around us. We slashed, fought, did everything we could, and we eventually had to split up, but it wasn't intentional.

We kind of.. slowly drifted away from each other, and I could see everyone at a distance, including Percy.

He was on his own miniature tornado, and he was heading north, seeing another part of Gaea's army marching towards us from a mile away.

Annabeth and Jason headed over to help Percy and I conjured up two hundred skeletal warriors to back me up.

Using that power always made me momentarily dizzy, but this one seemed better than the past episodes. It only lasted about two seconds, fortunately.

I figured that it was because of the ring, but I couldn't think too much while I fought, or I would become distracted.

Over time, I lost count of how many monsters I killed and how many demigods I wounded. I felt guilty for wounding them, but the good thing was that I couldn't bring myself to kill them.

Yeah, that showed weakness, and if I had never met Desirée, I would've killed them without a second thought.

But Desirée was my shining light, and I couldn't deal with a death on my conscience. I also couldn't help but wonder where all of the giants were.

I mean, Gaea is the mother of all of the giants, yet none were in sight. She must be waiting until the end to swarm us with her giant children.

Desirée might know if that was true or not. But knew that Desirée might not wake up any time soon, unfortunately.

I cringed at the sound of the familiar ringing in my ears that happens when one of my friends or someone I know is about to die or get hit with something deadly.

I heard a scream and I whirled around, looking in the northern direction where Percy, Annabeth, and Jason had gone.

A big sword with a sheen of green liquid on the blade spun towards Annabeth, and it seemed like it was in slow motion.

I couldn't do anything to help because I was too far away, and the ringing got louder and louder and louder, and then all of a sudden, it stopped, and the blade hadn't even reached Annabeth yet.

A split second later, Percy unsuspectedly jumped in front of Annabeth and the sword went deep into his stomach.

The demigod behind me went to put his sword into my shoulder, but it shattered on impact and I rammed my elbow into his nose.
