"So, have you actually used your wings yet?" Adam asked me as Will was preparing our bags.
"No, never really had a chance to. I mean I barely got them yesterday."
"Since Cupid is coming in two days, you have time to practice. I mean, flying would be a great asset while fighting or running away from monsters."
"But, how would I practice?"
"There is a cliff side near the beach you jump off of to practice. You can ask Percy to use the water to catch you if you fail." Nico said as Will finished up with the five bags.
"Will, there are only four of us, why do we need a fifth bag?"
"Medical! There is a high chance of us getting hurt and gods can get hurt too. My bag is too small to carry all of the unicorn draught, nectar, and ambrosia we need."
I just blinked at him as he stopped to breathe.
"How about since Will had some strange reason to pack a day early, I go get Percy and everyone meet me at the cliff to watch Dagian attempt to fly." Adam said as he started walking towards the door.
We just nodded our heads as Adam walked out and Will grabbed the medical bag. I followed Nico and Will outside to find the cliff.
"Nico, why don't you like Cupid?" I scratched the back of my head. "You don't have to tell me if you don't want to."
"After, I will tell you after our quest. Very few people know why, and I want to see if you are trustworthy first."
I smiled at his words.
"I understand."
'I might share some of my secrets after this quest too. If you can still trust me.' I thought to myself as we got to the cliffs.
I took off the jacket, because I didn't want it to get ruined, and my wings fully came out.
"Can I see your jacket?" Nico asked so I handed it to him. "That's what I thought, the jacket is made out of shadows. That's how you can bring out your wings out and they can come out when needed."
"Cool! You are like a huge black bird!" Adam said as he walked up to our group.
"So, all I have to do is use the water as a net?" Percy asked as he sat down near the edge of the cliff.
I walked over to the edge and looked over.
"How do I do this?"
"Most birds push their young out of their nests to surprise them into flying." Adam said right behind me.
'I have a really bad feeling about this.' I thought right before I got pushed off the edge.
"What the Hades is wrong with you?" I yelled out as I was falling down.
I would like to say that I started to fly gracefully down easily. But it was more like I was flapping my wings in every direction while screaming.
'Hold your wings out to start gliding, then tilt to turn. When you feel ready then move your wings up and down.' I heard a voice in my head that sounded like my father.
I followed his instructions and I started to glide right above the water. I could heard everyone cheering until I remembered that gliding means slowly moving down. Then I face planted into the water. The water started to lift me up and it put me back on the edge of the cliff.
"Not bad for your first try!" Adam said before walking towards me. "Do you want to try again?"
"Don't you dare push me off again!"
"Fine then, I will push myself off." He moved closer to the edge. "Catch me if you can!"
I quickly got up and ran after him right when he walked off the edge. I dived off and I opened my wings right when I grabbed him. He was laughing as I tried to flap my wings to slow the fall. I had a feeling in my gut to move closer to the cliff's shadow. I felt the pull right before we hit the water. I braced myself for the impact that never came. We rolled out of one of the trees nearby Will.
"Did you just shadow travel?" Nico asked as I started to catch my breath.
"I don't know. I fell into a shadow near the bottom of the cliff and came out up here."
"You shadow traveled."
"Sweet!" I rose my arms in the air. "I don't know how I did it but I did it!" I got up and then I fell backwards. "I think I can say I wore myself out."
Adam got up and helped me up while the rest were laughing. We started to walk back after the others finally stopped. Adam decided it was easier if we all stayed at the Hades Cabin tonight so we can continue getting ready in the morning.
