A strange, humanoid figure stood behind a desk, bored. It's nails were overly long, it's ears shaped like a goblin's, and it's face wrinkled.
The room was dimly lit, and from the outside the building appeared to be condemned, but the inside was actually quite nice.
A pale, tall person approached the desk, a book in his hands. He squinted to see in the barely lit room, and ran into a couple pieces of furniture as he made his way through the room.
"Must you keep it so dark in here? You know most of your costumers are human," he asked.
"My kind is sensitive to light. You know this, James," the creature replied, "How'd it go?"
"I nearly succeeded. Stupid Dani ruined everything. I should've watched him more carefully," the human, James, answered, "They're smarter and stronger than I expected."
"Dani? I thought you were only after Neil," the creature said, confused.
"I was, but they all figured out what I was doing, so I had to try and kill all of them," James explained.
"Ahh. So I take it you want something stronger? Darker? Harder to break?" the creature asked, as it turned around and grabbed a book off the shelves behind him.
"Of course," James replied.
"This one's $75. I think you'll find it to work nicely." The creature handed the book to James.
James flipped open the book. He chuckled darkly. "This will be perfect."

Revenge For Failed Vengeance- a Walsanderson fanfic
FanficSequel to Jimmy the Puppet. James has a new magic book, and it's darker than the last. Not necessarily mature (yet), but the last book is rated mature and this book doesn't make sense unless you read that one.
