Ten:
The next day was Friday. I didn't want to get up of go to school. I had this itching feeling that if I did the jocks and preps would attempt to beat me up again. I texted Andy.
I really don't want to go to school today.
He replied almost instantly.
Me neither. We can hang out at ur house later today. I need u to help me get ready for my date.
Then he sent a smiley face after it. I groaned tiredly and buried my face in my pillow.
I got up and got dressed, then walked to the bathroom and did my hair.
I groggily made my way down to the living room and to the kitchen for a food of some kind. I ate an orange and then put my earphones in, and walked out the door. I shifted my book bag on my shoulders and looked up at the grey sky. It was chilly out.
I guessed Andy wasn't going to pick me up, so I walked down to the bus stop. But I wasn't surprised to see Andy's car pull up beside me.
"Need a lift?" he asked, rolling down the window. I laughed and got in. We drove to school and then walked in together, before we went to our classes.
The day was uneventful and boring as hell. I can't explain how happy I was to get out.
Andy drove me to his house, after we stopped at Kmart to get something. Then we got to his house, where I was going to help him get ready for his, date.
"What time is it?" he asked. I checked my phone.
"Five something," I said. He nodded.
We walked into his house and I went into the kitchen and ate a granola bar while he went to his room.
"Hey," Andy called from his room.
"Yeah?"
"I need you," he called. I threw away my wrapper and shoved the rest of the granola bar in my mouth before walking to his room. He had two tuxes laid out on his bed.
"Damn. How fancy is this date?" I asked.
"There my dads. And were going out to this, weird fancy restaurant," he told me.
"Cool?" I said, questioning it. He scoffed and plucked at a tux.
"Which should I wear?" he asked.
I looked him over, then looked at the tuxes. I pointed at the black one with a white under shirt and black tie.
"That one. It would look best on you," I said. The other one was brown with a brown tie and blue under shirt. It jut wasn't, Andy.
"Okay. Thanks," he said. I nodded and left him to get dressed.
I watched TV till he called me again. I walks into the bathroom where he was staring hopelessly at a bottle of hairspray, a straightener and teasing brush.
"What the hell am I supposed to do with my hair?" he asked. I sighed, seeing his pain. This was hard for him. The 'going on some fancy-ass date' thing.
"Maybe, comb this back," I said, taking a brush and combing his hair back. "And spray it with this so it'll say."
After his hair was sprayed with hairspray, I stepped back and looked at him. He was already staring.
He hair was slicked back, exposing his face, (which was beautiful oh my god) and he looked very nice and handsome in the tux. He still had eyeliner on from whenever he had put it on. He stared at me for a moment, not thinking about his date tonight. Until I looked down.
"I should probably clean the eyeliner off, huh?" he asked. I nodded. He turned and cleaned it off, then looked back at me.
"How do I look?" he asked. I smiled.
"Great."
We walked out and he had to go pick up his date. So he drove me home before he left. I don't know why but I suddenly felt rejected and alone when the first wasn't even true. Well ... Was it?
I fell back onto the couch in my living room with a tub of chocolate mint ice cream in my lap, and ate it in spoonfuls while watching adventure time. I didn't feel like doing anything but be lazy and eat.
I ended up falling asleep on the couch. My parents didn't come home till late at night, around three in the morning and that's when I got up to go to bed. I fell asleep almost as soon as my body hit the bed.
