Killian awoke to find himself dazed in the deck under his ship. Trying to stand, he found a large cannon to be keeping his leg pinned as he saw the water begin to fill the ship. Instantly, his gaze searched from Emma, but he remembered how she was a mermaid and would be safe regardless and fought to save himself. Fearful of the cause that he could not remember, he used all of his strength to pull himself free but found it was too heavy. With the water quickly rising, he closed his eyes tight in blind faith that perhaps the water would be enough to cease the weight holding him down.
Luckily, he was right and was able to swim to freedom-gasping for air. But by the time he rose to the surface, he saw Blackbeard's ship in the distance with Emma looking to the water in a deep gaze.
In frustration, he tried to swim towards it, but found he was too exhausted and lightheaded. Instead, he used the debris from his now sunken ship to paddle his way close, but not close enough to be seen. Within a few hours-until darkness was overhead, he discovered the ship had docked for the pirates aboard to enjoy a night with the dozens of barrels of gold they had stolen from others. But as he watched close, he noticed how Emma was not among those who left the ship. To be sure that everyone was vacated, he moved carefully before stealthily moving onto the ship.
With each step, taking a quiet breath, Killian moved about the ship to find it was isolated. The only sound being the waves crashing against the sides of the exterior, rocking it and making it creak. Moving below deck, he saw a few torches lit and was fearful for what was to come as he never knew of any criminal to literally light the way. He went to draw his sword before finding it was not at his side. He must have left it with the debris upon getting back to land. He continued further anyway, fearful of Emma's life.
Pushing open the final door at the end of the hall as the others were full of gold or were the barracks to the other seafarers, he found her staring out the window before jumping to see him. Discovering she was shackled to the wooden vessel, he quickly looked around for a key before finding a glare pointed towards him.
"What?" he asked, frustrated, still soaked from his journey to protect her.
"Why are you here?"
"To save you."
"I don't need you to do that."
"Love, I get you are angry...but yell at me later...they could return at any moment and will probably take turns using you for entertainment in one way or another."
"I don't understand why you care suddenly..."
"I am very tired...I just swam miles to help you. I can go if-"
"No...." She said too quickly, before she repeated it, now more slow and not so desperate. "I would not appose your help."
"Good." He tore the cabin apart, searching each drawer before realizing the key was nowhere in sight. Instead, a fire raged on the far side in a makeshift fireplace as he smirked. Lifting a metal rod from against a far wall, he placed it over the fire before hitting it hard on the metal chain binding her. Eventually, it began to break until she was freed. But before they could vacate, the sound of boards up top creaked enough to sound an alarm. Killian leaped behind the door just as it came open and Emma acted as though she was still tied.
"I could make quite a lump sum with you...a mermaid..."
"I am not able to choose...it is a curse-I am coming to discover." he suddenly grabbed her chin, lifting her towards him. Enough to be forced the scent of his liquor stained breath and body odor of months at sea.
"You will be whatever I say you are..." He then threw her to the side as his gaze caught the raging rod leaning on the floor. His sight then shifted to her foot as he went to draw his blade-discovering she was free, before the end of a blade came to his neck. Killian was able to attain one from the pirate's chest that sat beside him during his time hiding.
"It would be wise to drop your weapon, Blackbeard."
"Killian...'
Emma's eyes went wide as she saw the extent of the hatred for herself.
"You will let the lady go, and you and I will duel as men."
"No pirate ever participates in an honest fight."
"Then let us fight as pirates..." He said, removing his blade as Emma moved towards the top deck.
"I have my sword near the beach, far from the ship. Get it and meet me in the Glass Slipper. A tavern with dancers."
"what if you don't survive?"
He glared as he motioned her forward and she disappeared from him.
Quickly, she ran towards the water before finding debris from the ship she began to grow comfortable with. Before too long, her eyes connected to a shiny object underneath some rope as she moved past the boat to hear the clashing of metal within. Wanting to help, she knew she would only distract-if not cause his death instantly, and moved to the Glass Slipper.
"I hear you were knighted..." Blackbeard teased as he lunged, Killian dodging his attempted assassination.
"I am a full-blooded pirate-"
"Then why is your sword one from the King's men? Snow White and Prince Charming's guards?"
His gaze fell to his weapon as Blackbeard knocked it from his hand just as he saw the emblem. He began to feel riddled with guilt as he knew Emma was telling the truth. Why else would he have such a weapon? He could never steal it as it was too risky to attain one personally, and any weapon found is ordered to be burned as it wields the ability to force respect and enforce laws of the land. He realized the power he then held, but could not quite remember Emma in his life. Only hazy figures.
In these moments, Blackbeard had his sword pushed against his throat, pushing to slice, before Killian began to smirk.
"What is so amusing, gutter rat?"
"The fact of your ignorance..." Blackbeard glared before feeling something at his feet. Quickly, he noticed the rod used to free Emma had burned through the wooden floor enough to cause it to start flooding. Killian ran from the ship and through the village before arriving at the Glass Slipper. Just in time to see Emma at the bar. Trying to keep the sword hidden, he realized how things would now change since he knew the truth. Quickly, he went to approach her before another man did. In such a way, he felt not only intimidated, but challenged.
