Chapter 15- Laying a Claim

"We should be going." Killian said, pulling her arm, before she got a chance to do object. Quickly, she tore her arm back in her own possession before a glare was shot in his direction. In a great embarrassment for the pirate, she apologized to the man she was with and retook her seat. But again, Killian tugged to her. "I said, we are going." This time, his eyes showed a deep distress as she looked to the man beside her before he was suddenly on his feet.

"I do not think she wants to go..." He said with a deep voice as he puffed out his chest. Killian then withdrew the sword-telling the mysterious man that he was a knight of the king as he bowed his head and Emma watched in amazement.

"How-"

"You are coming with me." He pulled her from the tavern, tearing her into the route of the forest before disappearing from the noise of the townsfolk.

"You have no right to pull me from places I have every right being in!"

"Did you want to stay and be fish food to the other pirates?"

"Why do you care? You left me to-"

"I came back." He said quickly, his face close against hers. "I know you are right, Emma. Everything you said. I just can't remember it."

'You...You didn't believe me for anything before..."

"The sword...it is one only a knight can possess...Why didn't you tell me?"

"I never thought to...I thought something like true love's kiss or reminding you personally would bring those memories back..."

"but you never tried...." Suddenly, his voice was soft as he moved closer towards her.

"I didn't want to. I loved the man who was knighted, the one who left the life of piracy behind him to be with me. The one who saved my home and my family...I wanted him back-"

"What if I can't bring him back? What then?"

"I suppose every story ends, Killian. The question is if you're ready to stop reading the pages and close the book..."

"Would you give up on love so easily?"

"I am not giving up on something you don't know exists...Your heart still belongs to Milah...and it's painful to know that. We broke down each other's walls once already...to do it again just seems painful-especially when you are being too stubborn to even listen..."

"I'm the one being stubborn? I am not the one sitting at taverns, batting my eye lashes."

"Sounds as though you are jealous..."

"I am no such thing! I can get any woman I want-'

"I recall. They all swoon over you, and you have quite the reputation, but if that is all you desire to have...then all of this is hopeless. Just take me home-my destiny is not to convince a selfish man of my love for him. What I used to have." tears filled her eyes now as she tried to hide them. "The only motivation I keep is knowing my kingdom is alright. But I cannot take the heartbreak any longer Killian!'

"And what about giving up? You said you wouldn't..."

"It's too painful! I've lost you too many times! Even in death-"

"Hercules would protect you then....if you returned home..." she froze, turning to him, with the tears staying still in her gaze.

'You bastard!" A slap came crisp upon his face as he rubbed his jaw before snatching her hand.

"What was that for? Princess?"

"You remember! You remember it all! I never told you of Hercules!" the tear fell as he looked to the ground then back at her. "Why would you pretend? Why would you go if you remembered?"

"I didn't...I only did when I used the sword...when it was in my hands. I remembered being knighted-then with you...it all rushed at once like water in a sinking ship. Love, I was given a vision of Calypso. She told me that she would bring you death if I told you I remembered..."

"You could have told me!"

He went to hold her before she hit him enough to have him fall against the tree.

"You let me believe you didn't love me...'

"I could never unlove you Emma. No spell or witch can do that.'

"But you said you loved her....you were never over her..."

"I meant you...'

She continued to hit him until eventually falling in his arms as their eyes locked when she pulled away. His hand fell onto her cheek as he pulled her in slowly for a passionate kiss under the stars.

"Can we please go home?' She asked with a smirk as he nodded.

"My pleasure."
