The door to my room creaked open slightly, the scent of my dad's aftershave and cologne wafted in, I was already awake but decide to lay in and pretend thinking maybe he'll go away after seeing me asleep.
"Denise??"
I didn't reply instead I snuggled deeper into the bed.
"Denise I know you're awake, you've got school" he said still persistent and I mumbled something along 'to hell with school'
"Do you want me to get the cold water" he said a little too cheerful and I jumped up.
"Ugh fine! I'm up"
"Good, meet me downstairs in 10 and get cleaned" he said turning and walking out.
After showering I wore a blue jean, white tank top beneath my sky coloured short sleeved t-shirt a converse then ran a comb through my hair.
When I got downstairs dad had made oats and Kaylee was devouring hers with gusto, he moved to serve me some but I shook my head. I hate oats they look like recycled puke, gods now I feel like throwing up. I made myself a bowl of cereal and began to eat, after we finished breakfast we headed to our new schools. Dad dropped me off at the high school then took Kay to hers.
On entering, the halls were silent the students were in their last class before lunch I checked. I swear we need to get a map for my dad because his sense of direction is basically non-existent, he managed to get us lost even with directions it's a wonder he ever makes it home.
Finding my way to the principal office thanks to the luxurious school map at the main entrance I collected my schedule, locker number and combination. I found my class easily thanks to the principals charming secretary's directions.
Entering without forethought, I walked towards the teacher and handed him a note from the principal, he read it the said
"Welcome, find yourself a seat" gesturing towards the empty seat at the back which was were the only empty seats were, I was grateful he didn't ask me to say anything about myself so I just nodded and made my way towards the back. After making my way there without bumping into anyone and avoiding eye contact I sat, no sooner had I done that the bell went off.
The student spilled out without a backward glance and I followed them trying to find the Spanish class but wound up in the cafeteria.
Sighing I sat at a table farthest from everyone but not near the dustbins I felt peoples gaze on my back and heard whispers but ignored it I was already used to gossips and curious eyes.Digging out a coke and an apple I studied my schedule, until I realized someone was standing in front of me boring holes into my forehead until I finally looked up exasperated and found out there was two of them.
"What?" I asked
"You're sitting at our table"
"Are they assigned?"
"Not technically -" said the shorter off-the two while the other just stood
"Then I don't see a problem" I said cutting her off rather rudely I detest the social hierarchy and sense of ownership some students tend to get when it comes to school property.
After debating internally for a while she sat across from me then another girl sat beside me still careful to keep her distance whilst eying me out of the corner of her eye.
