Walking back to the cafeteria I was totally oblivious to the fact that a part of my face was bleeding and throbbing all I wanted to do was yell at one person and none other than my devout cousin dearest.
Much to my chagrin I saw her seated with Hannah and couldn't help but think are you fucking shitting me right now? As warning bells went off in my head and I stalked towards their table yanking her roughly out of her seat by her hair.
"You see what happens when you pretend to be someone else?? You get caught up in their shit!" I yelled at her fervently holding back the urge to hit her.
"I swear I didn't know when he came up to me, he just said he wanted to talk" she said putting her hands up the way people do when they're cornered.
"And you went with him! He was a fucking stranger!"
"He said he knew you that's Why I did, if I'd known I wouldn't have gone with him" she yelled back when suddenly she was yanked out of my grip and between us stood Alex with his back to me as I felt Hannah's eyes bore hole into my skull and I turned to look at the plastic witch with an expression that clearly asks what the fuck are you looking at?? And she just smiled deviously. That's definitely not a good sign, someone kill me now.
"Denise what happened to your face?" he asked once he turned to look at me finally.
"Ohh I dunno I went for a stroll and tripped” I said sarcastically.
"Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit Denise, you should know that" he said clucking his tongue. Wtf?
"Are you trying to say I'm dumb?"
" No, but I am trying to find out what happened to your face" he spoke sincerely looking concerned and if looks could get you six feet under then I'd probably be under by now seeing the ones Hannah has been not so subtly giving me.
"Another message from Ryan" I said as nonchalantly as I could but I couldn't help but tense up and so did Alex.
"He's here? In school? "
"I think he'd probably left by now. But honestly I'm not FedEx you can't keep making me deliver messages for you"
"Come on let's get you home and cleaned up" he said taking my hand and tugging them to follow him but I stood rooted.
"I'm not ditching if that's what you mean, in fact I think I'll stay"
"Would it make you feel better if we got a pass?" he asked exasperated.
"Fine. I've had enough of this shit day anyways, not that I'm doubting your persuasive skills but how on earth are you going to get a pass for myself and you?" I asked and he just grinned, his self-confidence blooming as he did.
