Everything's Changed - Zayn Malik

I know

I woke up in a panic and sat up much too quickly causing my head to hurt a bit. I looked down next to me to see Zayn still sleeping and snoring softly.

What the hell?

I'd worry about that later...

I got out of bed carefully so I wouldn't wake him and found my phone. I had a message from Alyson saying they'd left and for me to call her later. That's when I noticed it was now eleven.

Shit.

After brushing my teeth quickly, I grabbed my keys and headed out the door, practically sprinting to my car. My nana probably wouldn't be upset that I didn't pick up Cassius last night, but I had told her I would.

When I got to my nana's house, she was watering her yard and Cassius was playing with a toy truck on the porch. I opened the gate and smiled nervously at her as I walked up the path. She smiled back but I realized how I must look, disheveled and still in my sweats.

"Hola, mija," she said.

"Hola, Nana."

"You want to come in for breakfast?" She said in Spanish.

I didn't know how long it would be before Zayn woke up wondering where I was, but after all my nana did for me I figured I should spend some time with her. I picked up Cassius and greeted him as we walked into the house.

There was a plate of eggs and bacon on the table which she put into the microwave; I guess they'd already eaten. I sat at the table as she took the food out and placed it on the table.

"So how was your night?" She continued in Spanish as she served me milk.

"It was fun," I answered in English.

My nana and I always conversed like this. She didn't feel comfortable speaking English and I didn't like speaking in Spanish, but somehow we understood each other.

"I'm glad," she smiled. "You deserve a night out once in a while."

"Thanks for taking care of Cassius. I know watching him day and night for two days couldn't have been easy."

"I'm not that old," she joked.

We laughed together as I continued to eat.

"I'm glad you're seeing someone, it's been a while since Jesse..." she trailed off.

My chest tightened and I stared at her.

"Well, I don't know what's gonna happen with this guy, Nana," I said honestly.

She raised an eyebrow, inviting me to continue.

"He's not from here," I sighed. "He lives in another country."

I didn't feel the need to tell her he was also in a famous boy band because I'm 99% sure she didn't know who One Direction was.

"That doesn't matter," she said.

"I know but... I don't know..." I mumbled.

"As long as he likes you, there's no reason not to go for it," she said.

I sat in silence and looked down at my empty plate.

"Does it have to do with him?" She gestured at Cassius.

I shrugged and looked at Cassius who was sitting on my lap with the little toy truck in his hands.

"I know you need a night out once in a while, even two nights is okay... but you can't just leave your child every night. He needs to understand that if he wants to date you, he needs to be okay with all of you and that includes your son," she said sternly.
