Say something

My eyes could barely open. I'd cried so much, my eyes felt like they'd be permanently puffy. I opened them slowly and surveyed the scene around me.

Jessie was asleep on the floor, her hair covering most of her face.

Cassius was on the couch near my feet, laying with his head on my calves. He was awake, quietly sucking his thumb.

I shifted in my spot and he sat up quickly. I sat up as well and pulled him onto my lap.

Reaching a hand to the end table, I grabbed my phone.

9:57am. Ugh.

I hadn't got much sleep. Every hour or so I would wake up. I was just paranoid.

Of course when I was finally sleeping soundly, I was woken up. At least Cassius hadn't woken up Jessie. She's taken such good care of me I just wanted her to rest.

I stood up with Cassius in my arms and went over to the kitchen. I poured Cassius some cereal and sat beside him as he ate. My appetite was nonexistent.

My phone rang, startling me. I walked over to it and saw a new message from Zayn. I sat back down next to Cassius at the table, sighing as I opened the message.

Hey, love. Sorry I can't be there but I hope you know I'm here for you. Hope you're enjoying your time with Jessie :)

Just then I received another message:

Busy day with the lads. I'm exhausted, but work is work. Just wanted you to know I'm thinking of you. miss you xx

I wanted to smile, cry, and throw my phone at the wall all at the same time.

Sadness was still the most prominent emotion. I was very disappointed that he couldn't be here in person, but he would if he could so I was comforted by that thought.

But then I remembered..

He didn't know what happened the previous night.

And that made me want to scream.

I know he's busy so he isn't able to always be by my side, but having to retell the bad things that happen just makes me feel worse.

Well he's busy, I thought. I won't tell him today.

Truthfully, my mind needed time to go over everything that took place.

Groaning, I began to rub my temples before putting my head in my hands.

I winced as my hand made contact with my cheek. I practically jumped out of my chair and went to the bathroom.

As I looked in the mirror, I saw the right side of my face was bruised.

"Christ," I muttered under my breath.

My mind thought back to when Thomas hit me. He hit me.

He'd never hit me before. It's like I didn't even know who he was anymore.

Cassius peeked his head into the restroom and I forced a smile at him.

"Come on," I lead him back to the kitchen.

"Good morning," Jessie walked over to me as I finished the dishes.

"Good morning," I said lowly.

"So," her eyes flickered to the bruise on my face. "What's on the agenda for today?"

"I'm not really up for anything," I admitted.

She remained silent as I walked over and sat on the couch.
