Green thought that after pushing Barney down the stairs and almost killing him that Barney wouldn't want to see him. But no, he just had to get the most considerate boyfriend.
"I had lied to you." Barney admitted guiltily. "I wasn't going out to see friends. I was going out to get things for a surprise date I was planning. Guess I kinda suck at surprises."
Green blushed a dark pine green color and smacked Barney across the face. "You idiot! I just pushed you down the stairs for no reason?! Come on!"
Barney smiled weakly. "Well, I guess it's no problem. You kinda helped me out so any damage you did has been healed.
Green snorted to show his derision. "Yeah, no harm no foul other than the blood on the hardwood."
Barney laughed and shrugged. "Yeah, but at least it's not on the carpet." Green still blushed. Was he embarrassed? No... Ashamed.
"And again, I'm in your debt." Green sighed. "Come on, quit being such a nice guy. You're making it impossible to repay you."
Barney's smile dissolved quickly. "You shouldn't be trying to repay me in the first place! A relationship is all about being kind. Love is doing kind things and not expecting anything in return."
He turned his head, scoffing under his breath. "Yeah, well I'm not used to love. Or kindness."
Barney was silent for a moment, but decided against saying anything. "Hey! About that surprise date, you want to be my date tonight?"
Surely, Barney had to be fucking with him. There is no way that after what just happened he would want Green to go on a date with him.
"You're joking, right?" Green snarled, not trusting him.
"No! I swear!" Barney insisted. "I planned this date for whatever color wanted to accompany me! If you're the color that wants to be my date, then I'm not going to refuse you."
Green blushed yet again. God, he must look like an idiot. Constantly blushing all the damn time. But Barney was so kind. Green was curious as to how this date would go, and what Barney planned on while he was lying to him.
"Okay, Barney." Green huffed, trying to hide his excitement. "I'll be your stupid date. You better make it good!"
Barney smiled, just as excited as Green was. "I wouldn't dream of doing anything else."

Green was sitting on the bed upstairs. He huffed impatiently. Barney had told him to wait while he set up the date. It had been a while, but not too terribly long. To Green, it felt like days. Green was by far the least patient of the colors, another thing he wasn't proud of. He couldn't wait for anything. A meal, a new episode, or news of anything important. The other colors chatted quietly, and they waited for Barney to call them down.
"Green? You can come down now!" Barney called up the stairs. He breathed a sigh of relief. Finally!
Barney wasn't waiting at the bottom of the stairs for him, only a trail of petals. Which confused Green. Shouldn't Barney be leading him to this date. He sighed. Whatever. Green grudgingly followed the trail of petals, which led from the bottom of the stairs to the kitchen. When he reached the doorway and saw what Barney had done, he knew it had been worth the wait.
The dining table was covered in a white table cloth, the lights had been turned down real dim and candles lit the room, casting their warm, flickering glow on a vase in the middle of the table. Inside the case were roses with rainbow petals. Green laughed at that.
"Rainbow roses?" He prompted. Barney blushed a little.
"I didn't know which color I would have tonight, so I just got rainbow." Barney admitted sheepishly.
"That's alright." Green said. "I'm just curious as to where they got rainbow roses from. Are they magic?"
Not it was Barney's turn to laugh and Green's turn to blush. "No, no. I'm sorry. That was just adorable!" Barney took a moment to stop laughing. "They're artificial. They split the stems at the bottom and put them in different colors of dye. The roses were actually white."
Green nodded, taking the seat across from Barney. "It's cute. But not enough to impress me yet! What else you got?"
Barney smiled, moving around in the kitchen. "I made dinner!" He announced proudly. Green watched as a dish was set in front of him. Inside was pasta. Penne with some sort of butter sauce over it with green things he assumed was parsley and little grains of what Barney had taught him was garlic salt. Green sniffed deeply, inhaling the delectable scent.
"Did you use olive oil?" Green asked, sniffing again. Barney looked impressed.
"Yeah! How could you tell."
Green shrugged. "I don't know, I've always been good with nature and plants, even if they're cooked into things. I'm good at recognizing them and taking care of the dying flower box outside my window in my old house. I think it's part of my talent as my color." He explained. Barney nodded, intrigued.
"So all of you guys have talents and powers?" He asked.
Green smiled a little down at his plate as Barney gave him a generous serving of pasta. "Yeah. Yellow is really good at singing and Orange can make a friendship bracelet out of anything."
Barney served himself and sat down across from Green. "You really like your... Brothers? Sorry! I don't know what you refer to your fellow colors."
Now that he thought about it, he didn't exactly know what the others were to him. They weren't exactly like his brothers, nor were they his friends. They were like parts of himself. But he supposed brothers would work. "Sure, brothers. And yeah, I love them. More than anything."
Suddenly, Green pointed his fork at Barney. "Including you." He hissed.
Barney laughed at this hostile gesture. Green was surprised, and irritated. "What?" He growled. Barney took a moment to stop laughing, holding his stomach and holding up a finger saying "wait a minute."
"I think that's funny." Barney continued with another small chuckle. "Because it's so funny, how you act like you don't like me."
Green was a little miffed at him. "Are you telling me that my feelings are fake?"
"No! It's just that you're trying to hide the fact that you like me and it's just too cute."
"I don't like you though!" Green growled.
"No, you do." Barney told him. "Maybe you don't love me like Red does or Yellow, but you like me."
Green paused for a minute before deciding to ignore Barney's comment. Instead of answering him he stuffed his mouth full of pasta. Chewing momentarily. There was a brief silence while Barney watched Green eagerly, waiting for his reaction.
"Well." Green sniffed bitterly. "You make decent pasta."
Barney grinned. "I love you too."
