The night was pitch black, as they walked further along the deserted road. Silence had swallowed them whole. A small rough street cat shrieked and ran away. Lila held Taliana's hand and they walked on to see what the night would behold...
There was a distant rumble and Lila immediately jumped. "It's only a car" Taliana stated looking around, her eyes full of worry. They carried on and turned around the corner to see a long row of market shops. Only one was open, bright lighted signs from pitch black darkness made their eyesights quite hazy. "You shouldn't have rushed out," Lila stated, "you keep making rash decisions, it isn't logical."
"Don't tell me what is logical and what is not." Taliana huffed, rolling her eyes.
Lila's family had recently moved to Alata from Celenor, Taliana the older sister had a row with their parents and had stormed out of the house. Lila was told to go after her to bring her back.
"Let's go into this shop and buy some flowers for mum and dad, then you can go and apologise," Lila suggested.
"No!" Taliana abruptly stopped and turned round to Lila "look if you want, go back."
Lila sighed "Look you know they mean well, be patient everything will sort out soon. Come on Tal, we have been walking for a while now you must be tired let's go back."
Taliana shook her head and sighed in frustration. Closing her eyes, she muttered under her breath "You don't understand, you never do."
Lila sighed "Come on if we go any further we will get helplessly lost." She made a move to hold hug her but Taliana turned away "Fine!"
***
Taliana hesitantly knocked on the door while biting her lip. Their father slowly opened the door...
"I'm sorry! I never meant to cause you trouble it's just that, you know me, making stupid quick decisions," Taliana blurted. Melvin, their father ground his teeth, not trusting himself to talk much without shouting in anger he uttered only five words "Your mother is in hospital."
