The staircase that led to nowhere...or did it?

Chapter 3:

Follow your dream...
Lila woke up with a jolt as her alarm on her phone went off, at the loudest possible volume. She ran down the stairs at high speed and jumped into the kitchen. She bustled about making breakfast with a special spark keeping her motivated. Once the eggs, beans, tomatoes and mushrooms had cooked, Taliana dragged herself slowly down the stairs, along the corridor to the kitchen at the end. She slumped into the chair to see Lila's beaming face staring at her "I made breakfast!" she sang cheerfully. "Cool," nodded Taliana seriously, her curly, black hair springing about. Lila slipped the two plates onto the table and tucked in. "Mmmmm" Taliana mumbled as she was eating. Her frown had turned into a smile after she had finished and she jumped up and ran upstairs. Lila washed their plates (something she would rather die than do) and cleaned the table. There was some jingling from upstairs and Taliana came rushing down, this time her black curls going wild! "Thanks for the breakfast, just remembered I have Uni!" Taliana revealed. She stuffed the keys and some books in her bag and...ch-click, the door had closed. She was gone.

Lila danced around, cleaning her room while listening to some music. When she had finished, she looked around her now immaculate room, beaming with pride. She stuffed some items in her rucksack and set off to the Central Library. Follow your dream...Follow your dream...

The automatic doors opened and the air conditioning spells cooled her from the intense heat outside, it was a sunny day. She went to the information desk and asked where the magic section is. Then she strolled through the long rows of books until she found what she was looking for. There weren't many books on magic and spells mainly because Celenor and Alanta in fact were generally made up of less magically talented people. But magic prepared from the Capitol would be used in every day lives, for example the ovens, microwaves and stoves had spells making sure food never burnt and cooked as quick as possible.

Lila picked up "Magic and how it works" sat down on a chair and started reading it. She was just near finishing it when someone coughed. She looked up to see a young girl around her age picking up "Beginner's guide to spells." 

"Errr...hi" said the girl uneasily, putting the book onto the table.

"Oh hi, eh I'm Lila" she sputtered, looking with great envy at the girl's long white hair, deep dark brown eyes and bright red lips. Then, to her own wavy brown hair, greeny/blue eyes and pink lips. 

"I'm Priscilla" she shyly said.

"So you like magic?" Lila asked.

"Oh yes, I love it" 

"Me too" bubbled Lila, filled with excitement.

"It's always been my dream to study magic in the Capitol!" they said in unison, bursting into laughter.

"Finally someone else who is interested!" chuckled Priscilla.

"Maybe we should start studying about magic together," Lila suggested.

"Yeah, that way we would be more motivated" Priscilla sat down at the table, her long white hair swaying.

They talked and gave each other's phone numbers and organised dates to meet up. "I better get going, it is starting to get dark," Lila announced "see ya soon." 

"Okay, bye!"

Lila rushed home as fast as she could and fell through the door. Taliana had packed up her stuff into suitcases and was just about to leave. "There you are!" shouted Tal, hugging Lila tightly "I was just about to come looking for you!" Lila saw the suitcases and asked what they were for. "Well I have a project from university based back in Celenor, so I have to go, I thought i might as well go early as will have more time to work on it," she stated "Gotta go, the taxi is here,love you, bye." 

Lila hugged her and waved goodbye, still dazed at how quick everything happened. She stood there long the taxi had gone out of sight. She slowly turned back into the house and trudged up the stairs. Her dad was staying at the hospital tonight, so she was alone all night with only the tick tock of the clock as company.
