It was one month after the big reveal of Walter Mabry and Arthur Tressler's crimes. It was one month after New Year's Eve.
One month after that kiss.
The Horsemen, Li, and grandma Bu Bu were hiding out in a place the Eye had provided for the week. They were back to hiding while waiting for their next mission.
It was a big and lovely house this time. Wood floors, big fireplaces that don't seem to work, big kitchen. Hell it even had a swimming pool (indoor, of course, for safety reasons). Everyone got their own room but Lula & Jack had decided to share a room.

After a night full of card throwing, Jack decided to clean up and call it a night. As he put all those diamonds and spades back into the box, he glanced at the clock. 11:45 P.M. Normally, he would still be up at this hour, maybe having a beer with Merritt, but he seemed to be awfully tired.
Once he finished, he put the box aside and retreated to the room he shared with Lula. The stairs seemed like mountains as Jack was so tired he was basically dragging himself to his room.
Once he got to the door he opened it very softly, not trying to wake his sleeping girlfriend up. He closed the door and inched towards the bed, making sure to step on the wood panels he knew wouldn't make a creaking sound when he stepped on them.
Lula was all wrapped up in the blanket, wearing Jack's grey hoodie (she must've stolen it somehow, it was just one of those things Lula do,) and black pajama shorts. Just as he sat down on the bed, he looked at her for a while, taking in every single detail of the beautiful woman sleeping next to him without a sound. He looked at how her stomach went up and down and how she made little puffs after she exhaled.
He carefully laid down, trying not to create big moves that might wake her up. Once he was all settled in the bed, he planted a soft kiss on Lula's cheek.
"Night, Lula."
