Chapter 3

Dream

Embry and I were in a beautiful meadow watching the sunset, while laying on our backs.

"It's beautiful." I whispered.

"Yes it it." He said.

I looked over at Embry to see him watching me.

I blushed.

"Anorey, I've had feelings for you for a while now. I was wondering if you w..would go out with me?" He asked nervously.

"I would lo-"

End Dream

 I woke up to the sound of my mother yelling at someone.

"What  do you mean they let him go? After what he did to my daughter, he should be locked up for life. Why is he being set free?" Mom yelled.

"I'm sorry miss, but I don't  know. Even with the evidence that we had against him, the judge still let him go. The Chief is doing everything she can to get him put away and find out what happened with the judge." A male voice said.

I walked downstairs and saw my mom and Deputy Mark talking.

"What's going on? Are they letting David free?" I asked worried.

"Yes sweetie, they are. Even with the evidence they have on him, the judge has decided to let him go." Mom said.

"They're doing what?" 

I turned and saw my brother coming down the stairs.

"Why? The bastard deserves to be in jail for life for what he did. If they're letting him go even with the evidence, then something is not right with the judge. He's either being paid really well, or a relative. You need to have the Chief do a background check on that judge." Ashton said wrapping his arms around me and pulling me into his chest.

"Actually we've already done a background check on him. He has not relations to the boy what-so-ever. I'm going to talk to the Chief and see what she thinks. She should drop by sometime today to check on you two.You might have to come down to the court so we can do a retrial. Give us a week to get back to you." Deputy Mark said.

"Okay. Um, do you think that you could have someone patrol around the house? I'm scared that he'll come for me again. And this time, I think he'll kill me." I said shaking.

"Sssshhhh. It's alright." Ashton said stroking my hair.

"Sure little lady. I'll ask the Chief to send two Marshalls over to patrol. I'm not taking any chances." Deputy said slight southern accent.

"Thank you." I said softly.

"No problem ma'am. I have to go now, but I will be back later tomorrow." He said walking out the door.

"Okay." I said watching as he got into his car.

EMBRY'S POV

I headed back to the Police Department after I left Anorey's house. I didn't tel her that I was going to be watching her house since her ex had been let go. I would do anything to protect her and I'll be damned if I let that fucker get away with hurting her. I've had feeling for her for about 4 years now and it was time I did something about it. I never had the guts to tell her, because I was afraid she wouldn't  feel the same way.

I walked into the station and headed towards the Chiefs office. When I got there, she was on the phone.

"Okay. Thank you. Bye." She said hanging up.

"Chief." I said sitting in a chair.

"Lieutenant, here is the information on the suspect. I know that you know him, so I don't have to tell you what he looks like. I need you to look after Anorey.  I'm going to have you transferred home so that you can keep an eye on her. You may tell her what you're doing if you like. That is all." She said.

"Thank you Chief. I wont let you down." I saluted her.

I made my way home to get ready for my mission. I called the Commander and he okayed everything.
