To Love Another

Chapter 5

The Commander smirked at me and laughed at me.

"I told them to attack us. I gave them our daily schedule and told them to have fun. I must say, you got here sooner then I expected. I thought you'd be still with your little girlfriend. I'm impressed with your speed." He said.

"You stupid bastard! How could you betray us like that? You're the Commander for Christs sake! This was the most stupid and foolish thing you could have ever done." I yelled at him.

I couls feel my eyes change color the madder I got. Everyone knew that when my eyes changed color,  they should stay away from me.

" Lieutenant. How do you think our enemies know when to attack? Doesn't it seem odd that they always attack when we are relaxing or when we least expect it?" He asked laughing evilly.

Just then the ground started to shake and an explosion went off. I moved to a corner and covered my head as the roof began to fall in. A giant piece landed on the Commander, causing blood to splatter, killing him instantly. I ran out the door and to the underground bunk. Almost everyone had been treated since I had been gone, which was amazing. The soldiers who could move and weren't badly injured were gathering weapons and other supplies. They were dressed in their armor and ready for battle.

"Alright listen up. The Commander is gone so I'm going to take charge until I find a replacement for him. There is a hidden bunk in one of these walls that leads up to the surface. Headquarters is still standing, that's where it leads. There are rockets and missels there that I hid in case something like this happened. Alpha team, you're going to go up and set up as fast as you can. Charlie, you're going to go behind them and start the attacks. Headquarters is pull proofed. Nothing can destroy it so you're safe. Everyone else, help out any way you can, I need at leeast 50 men on stand-by and 30 men ready to battle. Major Todd, you will pick who goes where and who does what. Is that clear?" I yelled to them.

"YES SIR!" They said.

"Good. Let's get moving." I ordered.

It took a month for the battle to end, but we finally defeated the Japanese. We made a treaty with them and decided to call a truce. Luckily, no lives were lost on either side. There were many injured but they were not life threatening. I have been keeping tabs on Anorey and sending her letters whenever I can. She was worried about everyone on the base and wanted to send us supplies, but I told her there was no need to. Her mother sent a huge box full of goods and first aid kits along with some clothes. We are now rebuilding the last structure of the base. It took six months to get everything rebuilt and back to the way it was. 

I was talking with a few guys when my phone rang.

"Hello."

"Embry?" 

"Anorey, how are you?" I asked.

The guys started to make kissing faces.

"I should be asking you that. How is everything going over there?" She asked.

"Well, we're working on the last building. It should be done in a few weeks. Everyone is doing fine. I should be back in a month tops." I said.

"Alright. I miss you." She sighed.

"I miss you to. Very much. When I get back we are going out on a date. Where something nice. Tell you're brother to keep a close eye on you. Have you heard from your ex yet?" I asked.

The guys raised their eyebrows.

"Not yet. But I'm scared to sleep at night." She whispered.

"Why? Are you still having nightmares?" I asked.

"Yeah. But I can't shake the feeling that something bad is going to happen. Everywhere I go, I feel like I'm being watched. I just don't feel safe anymore. Even with the Marshalls patroling around my house." Anorey was full on vrying by now.

"It's going to be okay Anorey. I'll be home as soon as I can. I know you're scared but please bare with me. Is Ashton at home?" I asked.

"Yeah. Why?" 

"Ask him if you can stay with him tonight. I have to go now. I'll call you tonight before I go to bed okay? Tell your mother and Alistair that I said hello." I said.

"Okay. I will. Miss you." She whispered.

"I miss you to." I said hanging up.

I ran my fingers through my hair and sighed. 

She has been having nightmares every night since she broke up with David and they seen to be getting worse. 

"Is everything alright?" Tanner asked.

I looked around and saw that everyone had gathered around me while I was on the phone.

"No. I need to get home as soon as possible. After we finish this building I'm leaving. I'm going to  put Major Mason in charge of you. If I hear that any of you gave him trouble, when I get back I'll make the training you went through look like childs play. Is that understood?" I threatened.

"YES SIR."

ANOREY'S POV

 I felt like it's been weeks since I sent that letter to Embry, when in reality it's only been three days. I talked to hin yesturday and felt so much better after I got off the phone with him. I took his advise and asked Ashton if I could sleep in his bed, of course he said yes. I slept peacefully that night in my brothers' arms. I felt safe, but I was still scared about David coming to get me. It was then that I had my first panic attack. My mother and Ashton my asthma pump and tried to get me to take deep breaths. It worked after a few seconds and I began to calm down. My mom held me as I cried into her shoulder, whispering sweet things into my ear. She got me to stop crying by having Ashton tickle me in my weak spot. Alistair then decided to make funny faces to cheer me up. For a one year old he was smart. His birthday was March 21, which was a month ago today.

Today was Monday, which meant I had to go to school. Its 90 degrees outside and I was burning up and sweaty.  I had taken my black blazer off and tied it around my waist so that I wouldn't overheat. My uniform consisted of a black blazer, a blue skirt, and a white blouse with a blue tie and black flats. I loved it.

Just as I was about to turn the corner onto my street, I heard a car horn blow. I turned to see a silver Dodge Challenger slowing down beside me.

"Hey shawty, want a ride?" 

The guy who asked me was sitting the passenger seat eyeing me up and down. He was darker than me, had a military style haircut, a piercing in his left ear, and a gold grill in his mouth.

Can you say eww?

"No thanks.?" I said as I turned the corner and sighed as the house came into view. I had four houses to go.

"Come on shawty. Don't leave a nigga hanging." He said licking his lips.

I scoffed, "I said no thanks. Pervert. " 

"Is there a problem her Miss Anorey?"

Looked to my left and saw the Chief walking towards me after she got out her car. I sighed in relief.

"Yes there is. He won't leave me alone." I said.

"Sir unless you want to spend life in jail, or want the Navy on your ass I suggest you leave her alone. Now get out of here." She said.

They drove off, speeding down the street.

"Thanks." I said walking into my house.

"No problem. Your mother is asleep, Alistair is upstairs with Ashton in the game room. There are two cars on the way here. I have to get down to the station and finish some paper work. I'll call you tonight to see how everything is going." She said heading towards her car.

"Okay. Thanks again." 

She waved and sped off down the street.

What a day.
