Chapter 6

"Ashton." I called as I walked up the stairs.

"In here." He called.

I walked into his room and saw him and Alistair watching Transformers on the bed. Alistair was on top of Ashton's chest smiling at me.

"Hey buddy." I cooed at him.

"Norey." He squealed throwing himself at me.

I wrapped my arms around him and kissed his cheeks. He snuggled into my chest and wrapped his arms around my neck as I sat on the bed.

"How was your day?" Ashton asked me.

"It was good. Although, some creep was trying to was trying to talk to me while sitting in the passenger side of his best friends car. Luckily the Chief was there to get rid of them." I said putting my head on his shoulder.

"You're a danger magnet, you that right?" He teased kissing my forehead.

"No I'm not." I said slapping his chest playfully.

"Sleepy."

I looked down at Alistair and saw that he had fallen asleep snuggled into my chest.

"Good night sweetheart." I said kissing his hair.

"I'm going to take a nap to. You can stay in here if you want." Ashton said rolling onto his side.

I tightened my hold on Alistair and turned to my side. I made sure I wasn't suffocating him and drifted off to sleep.

EMBRY'S POV

 I can't believe that he would betray us like that. I trusted him with everything and he threw it all away like it was nothing. He was my mentor and the closest thing I had to a father. Why would he betray his home?

I was in my quarters packing my suitcase to go on leave for a few months. I was mad as hell and really needed some time off before someone got hurt.

"Sir. Everything is up and operating again. There is a new security system installed that let's us know when an enemy is approaching. The medics have taken care of the injured and the body has been buried." Timothy explained.

"Well done. Make sure everyone gets plenty of rest and plenty to eat. Once everyone is healed, we will start training again. I don't want anymore mishaps like this to ever happen again. The security system needs to be on at all times. I'm putting you in charge of the training until I return. I want everyone trained in weapons and medicine. Everyone should know how to do every job here. Do I make myself clear?"

"Yes sir." He said saluting.

It had been six months since the war and everything was back to the way it was. All of the commanding officers were here and making sure that everything stays in order. My boss is making me go home for a few months to rest and visit family. Admiral Jackson was the older brother I've always wanted. He trains me, keeps me in line, and makes sure that I stay out of trouble. He says I need a vacation and is making me go home. He knows about Anorey and how I've been writing letter to her. He wants to meet her to see if she's the right girl for me, even when I tell him she is.

"Are you ready to go?" Jackson said standing in the doorway.

"Yeah." I said walking past him.

"While you're here. I just wanted to let you know that your transfer request has been granted. After your vacation you will be working with the Chief of your girlfriend's town. You know your job will be to protect the girl from her ex-boyfriend. After that is over you will be stationed just outside the city helping to train new cadets."
