Hamilton POV
I ran toward the stage and skidded across the wooden floor at my summoning. After looking back behind me I slipped behind the curtain leading backstage. Washington was sitting at a small desk, looking at some notes on the musical.
"You wanted to see me?" I walked over to him, my hand pushing my glasses back up my nose. After a second he looked up from his notes and smiled, tiredly.
"Yes. I've wanted to tell you about our new student. I believe his name is-"
"Laurens?" I finished the sentence for him.
He gave me a surprised look and said, "Yes, John Laurens. I suppose you've met him?"
I nodded. "Yeah, Laf and him are friends apparently. He introduced me to him with the others, up there." I cocked my head to the unseen seating behind the curtain. I felt a little heat rise in me.
He smiled again, probably seeing the faint blush on my cheeks from the thought of Laurens and me being flirty-stupid and winking at him. "I see. Well, I just wanted you to know and to ask, seeing as you're one of the top students here, if you could show him around." I rose and eyebrow but before I could ask what he meant he already explained, "You know what I mean, Alexander. Help him out. Bring him to his classes if he can't find them.
"-Ah, I know what you're going to say. 'But Lafayette and my friends can.' No, Alex, I understand you don't like doing these necessary, tedious things but sometimes you have to."I sighed. I knew he was right and I would enjoy being a little late to class with friends but still. I'd have to teach him. I didn't-don't-have very much patience when it comes to these things. And I could be late to a class I like...like debating or English or math or science or- wait I like pretty much all of my classes though... Ugh... Well, I suppose I'll get to spend time with Laurens and Laf and Mul... That will have to be enough, I don't wanna argue with good old Washingdad. I laughed to myself for the nickname.
Finally I agreed, "Yeah, I'll do it.""Good, good, Alexander. Now, onto more personal matters," he said, picking up his notes, straightening them and setting them aside.
"Yes?"
"I suppose, since the musical auditions are this week, you'll be having Marquis, Hercules, Thomas, James, seeing as their brothers are coming, and the Schuyler sisters. Am I forgetting anyone?"
I chuckled a little, because Washington knew exactly what to expect from my friends and I. "No, I don't think so." Then I remembered and revised, "Wait, yes, I think Laurens will be coming too. Laf said Laurens was auditioning for Anthony Ramos, so he should be with us for practice, like the others."
Washington smirked and said, "Ramos, eh? Isn't that Lin's love interest? Hmm?"
I could feel my cheeks become hot and I scoffed. "Shut up, mate."
He burst into laughter. "I'm just teasing you, don't worry," he said as he calmed down. "But seriously, it's fine if they all come. We should have enough room for one more this year."
I rolled my eyes. "Thanks, Washingdad. Anything else?"
He grinned at the nickname and shook his head. "No, you're free to go." I made my way to the backstage exit door, which was just to the left and back of his desk. Before I could open it Washington added, "Oh and Alexander?"
I turned round to face him and he took of his glasses and put them down on the table. "Yes?"
"Please don't fight with Thomas at home. I really don't want to have to clean up another food fight this year. At least the maids helped me, unlike you people," he scoffed.
