Laurens POV
I grabbed some blank paper from inside the desk next to me, my other hand fiddling with a pencil. After closing the lid I twisted around and laid on my stomach across two tables. I tapped the tip of the pencil on the paper before starting to roughly sketch. I glanced up quickly at the group, watching them laugh. I smiled to myself, my bangs hiding most of my face. We were sitting in a classroom until Washingdad was finished with his work, which would be soon apparently. While I drew, my ears picked up the guys' conversation from the middle of the room.
"We all know you started it, Jefferson," Hamilton pouted, crossing his arms.
"Back off, Hamilton. You were the one who threw the peas first. Everyone saw it." The guys all looked to Hamilton, nodding in agreement.
"Mon ami, you are very, how you say? Uhh...irritable?" Lafayette clicked his fingers in thought, "Non... it's..."
"Impulsive? Angry? Dickhead?" Mulligan suggested, making everyone giggle.
"I vote DICK!" A voice I didn't recognise called out from behind me. I turned my head a little, seeing a tall guy dressed in a wine red shirt and white pants walk in.
"We all know you like dick Aaron, stop denying it," Angelica shouted back at him.
He rolled his eyes, walked past me and sat on the desk next to Alex. "I see the whole gang is here."
"You are the worst Burr," Laf remarked, smirking.
"Ignore them, congrats to you, sir. On your music award. What was it for again?"
"Trumpet solo in the showcase last week." He laughed. "It's not the highest honour, but it's something. Nothing compared to your, what? Fifteen musical awards in a row?"
"Shh, don't remind him, his ego is already too inflated. It might pop and splatter on all of us if it gets any bigger!" Peggy said, hopping up and pressing a finger to his lips, looking scared at Alex before smiling.
Laughing, Angelica accusingly asked, "Yeah, Burr, what's your issue?"
"Sorry, sorry." He petted Alex's head. "It's ok, Hamilton. Talk less, smile more. Your case of ego will go down eventually."
"Yes, I know. Don't let them know what you're against or what your for. Only told me that three hundred and fifty thousand times." And, whacking his hand away, he added, smirking, "But it's never seemed to work."
I watched on from my spot close to the door, laughing silently to myself. I glanced back down at my sketch, smiling nervously.
"Oh. Burr, you haven't met Laurens yet, have you?"
I looked up, quickly, at the sound of my name, blushing. "Wha-what?" I sat up, so I was facing them, legs crossed.
"No I haven't, is he new here?" Burr looked at me with a curious expression. Hamilton jumped down from his desk and moved towards me, a smile on his face. He jumped up on the desk beside me while I answered. I clutched the paper close to my chest, making sure Alex couldn't see.
"Uhh yeah. I just moved here today, the name's John Laurens," I looked down, my cheeks hot.
"Well, nice to meet you John. I hope we'll get along quite well."
"Me too," I replied, still staring down.
Beside me, Alex nudged me with his elbow, motioning down at the paper. "You draw?" I nodded shyly, clutching the paper closer to my chest. "Can I see?" He leapt in front of me, his eyes shining. I fought to avert my gaze.
