Chapter five

I looked at my sister. My face now matching hers. I took a deep breath and fiddled with my fingers. "Yes, it's true, I am going to fight" I said boldly.

My sister looked like she was taken back a bit. " Kali..., it is not a women's job to fight. Especially in such a dangerous environment such as mission 17. You must be married, don't you want to?" Zella said softly.

I narrow my eyes on her and my face looked as if I was in disbelief, which I was. "Hold on..." I said placing my sword, and other weapons on the ground. " Did father tell you to say this?!" I asked.

My father shot a look at me. I shot a look back. "Kali, absolutely not, why would you say that?" Zella asked placing both her hands on her lap and locking them together.

"Because you are sounding a lot like him right now" I said angrily. " No need for anger, Kali, do you think it's a smart choice, wouldn't you want to do anything else. Women are supposed to be gentle, graceful, and peaceful. You will be none of those things if you go to war" Zella said.

"Unbelievable" I said shaking my head from side to side. "But Zella, imagine the financial state we can be in, Kali could do something she loves to do, she's been practicing for years" Mother intervened.

Dad nodded. My dad was such a hypocrite. He was the one who mentioned that I should go to war, then later he says that I am a women and should get married right now. I just don't understand.

" Excuse me mother, but I beg to differ. I feel that it is not right and I won't sit back and watch my sister basically die" she said, her voice raising a bit but she still sounded queen like and proper.

" Die?! I will not die. I am not weak like you and other village girls are. I've been practicing and gotten way strong then you and plenty other girls, and you say you will watch me die?!, I will make it , and when I do survive, you will not get any of the glory and riches that will be given to me if we win the war" I said angry that my own sister was against this.

"Kali you are a fool if you believe that you will survive this mission" Zella said looking down at her hands."Okay, that's enough" Father said attempting to stop the argument.

"You know what Zella. I think you outstayed your visit. Won't you be a dear and get the hell out". I know, really mean but so much anger was in me. Zella and I were so close when younger and some how she changed.

She changed a lot. She stood up and brushed the "dirt" or whatever off of her dress. She grabbed her bag. "Kali, that's your sister,.. Zella, you may stay if you'd like to" Mother said.

"No, it's really okay. It was nice seeing you all, but I have business to attend to in the castle" she said walking out the door and into the carriage. I slammed the door behind her.

"Kali!" Mom said angrily at me for getting so mad at my sister. I brought my weapons in with me to my room and lay on my bed staring at the ceiling and thinking for about an hour. I got up and changed into my regular shirt, pants, and boots that I loved to wear when I was going to ride LuLu and have an adventure.

I walked down the stairs. My mother was cooking dinner and my dad was at the castle attending to the King's needs. "What are we having?" I asked my mom. "Mushroom stew" she said looking behind to me and smiling while still stiring the stew.

"Mmmm" I said. "I'm going to ride LuLu for a while, I'll be back in a bit" I said to mom. "Okay, but please don't stay out to long" mom said calmly. "Okay" I said grabbing the Halter and walking out the door.

I blew my whistle and LuLu swooped down instantly in her usual spot. "Ma-lady" Gabriel said waving his hand at me. I waved at him and smiled. "Would you stop calling me that, it's just Kali" I said smiling.

He saluted to me as I jumped on Lulu and zoomed to the sky before he could've blinked an eye. "Good girl" I patted her back as we went over the training that I was trying to teach her, Over the clouds, under the clouds, and through the clouds.

She went over the clouds once more and as I looked to my left I saw another person on a dragon. I squinted my eyes and continued to train her. When the person spotted us he got closer the us, close enough to where we could hear him whisper.

"Hey, your the girl with the awesome powers, right?" He asked. "Yep "I said happily. "that's really cool, can you show me some things you can do" he said. "Why?" I asked suspiciously.

"I just think that having powers is cool, I was supposed to have them but my oldest brother and youngest brother got them instead, I just want to see it up close" he said. "I don't even know you" I said still suspicious. I only glanced at him once and that was at the practice training.

" okay, well, I'm Gaston" he said placing his hand out for a hand shake. I looked at it weirdly, then at him weirdly for about five seconds. Then I let my right hand off of Lulu's Halter and slowly shook his hand. "Before I show you, race you to those mountains. If you win, I show you. If I win, I don't show you" I said.

We both shook our heads in agreement. I tightened my hands on Lulu's Halter and narrowed my eyes on the mountain top. "One,... Two,.....Three,......Go!!" I yelled and we both zoomed in the direction of the mountain.

I smiled because I was in the lead but he suddenly passed me and laughed and pointed at me from the front. I boiled inside and zoomed trying to pass him. "Come on Lulu! Lets win this!!" I yelled and suddenly we landed on the mountain top in no time.

I didn't know who won until I looked back and saw Gaston still flying to the mountain. I smiled and patted Lulu's head. "Good job, girl" I said. He reached and frowned. "Guess I don't have to show you" I said proudly. He looked pretty disappointed.

" Fine" I looked at him, " I'll show you" I said. "I don't know if I should do it, my father told me never to use it unless it is a dangerous, or very needed circumstance, I guess a quick tick won't hurt" I said. Gaston nodded.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath in. My hair turned blue. I was happy, when I used my powers it always turned blue because I was so happy to use my powers. I don't know why.

I unknowingly raised the rocks from the mountain top into the sky and moved them around, creating an awesome rock show for Gaston. "Wow" he said trying to grab a rock. "You might want to go somewhere safe"I said.

He ran behind a tree in the distance as I dropped every rock in its original spot and my hair turned back to normal. He came back and said "wow, I wish I had that for mission 17" he said wide eyed. I chuckled. "Well, I have to go, see ya" I said and hopped on Lulu. I grabbed her Halter and flew off into the sky and back home.
