Tally ---->
Anticipation was running through his veins as Aden leaned calmly up against his locker, his best friend Blake chatting animatedly beside him to some of the basketball guys. To everyone else, Aden would've looked like he normally did any other morning, quietly surveying the students passing by with mild interest. To Blake, however, he was waiting for something, for someone.
"Yo, Aden, you coming to the gym free period?" Lucas, the tall red head asked, throwing the basketball back to Blake.
"Maybe," he replied as his attention turned to a certain brunette walking through the students, laughing with Tally, the fiery best friend. Aden smirked. She was gorgeous, her long legs and toned body, the curve of her breasts and hips inviting him in without her realising it She glanced up, feeling eyes on her, and met Aden's unwavering stare. Aden's smirk grew when she looked away, blushing.
"Man, that new girl is really something, huh." Lucas said wistfully, and Aden felt a spark of annoyance before reminding himself that he wouldn't be the only male in the school who wasn't attracted to her. Hell, you would have to be gay to think she wasn't attractive.
"That girl could wear anything." Another commented, and Aden tried squelching more annoyance when he saw Scott approaching Avery. And he froze. Watching intently, he couldn't help but feel as though she was his, which was crazy since she'd only been back for a week. He watched her face as she laughed, and tensed when Scott leaned in closer.
“Hey, man, you okay?” James, the shaggy black haired funny guy asked. Aden nodded curtly, but Blake knew under that mask he was angry over something. Over what? He didn't know, but he would find ask later. Right now, he needed his guy to concentrate on the upcoming game.
“So what did Scott want this morning?” Tally asked eagerly as her and Avery slid onto one of the tables in the cafeteria. Avery grinned at her enthusiasm. Scott was nice, someone she could see herself easily getting along with. But she couldn't put her finger on the thing that bugged her, that made her wonder if Scott was just too...safe. It perplexed, and the feeling grew stronger when she saw Aden walk through the doors of the cafeteria in a casual white tee and dark Levi's, and yet he looked far to tempting.
“Oh, he just wanted to know if I was going to the basketball game tonight,” Avery replied off handedly. Tally's eyes bulged.
“And?” She prompted.
“And I said yes, you and me were going so we should meet him there.”
Tally could just see the disappointed look on Scott's face when she said that to him. Groaning, she put her head in her hands.
“What?” Avery frowned, and Tally shook her head.
“You're such a dork.” She laughed, and Avery felt another headache coming on. “Oh shut up, it's not like he was asking me out or anything...oh.”
Tally patted her shoulder when she put her face in her hands.
“I am a dork! What an idiot!” Avery cried, and Tally couldn't help the laughter escape her lips.
“I probably would've said no anyway, I've only been here a week! And he could've been more direct about it...” Tally cut in.
“Saying what?” She put on a deep mans voice. “Hey, cutie, wanna go out with me, we could watch the basketball game then go get smoothies.”
Avery giggled hard, slapping Tally's arm. “Not funny,” she murmured, and she found her eyes unconsciously seeking out the one guy she had already accused of having a fuck buddy and a bony butt.
“I have a feeling,” Tally began, “that you wouldn't be too reluctant to say yes to Aden.” Avery shot her head back around, blushing.
“I wouldn't!” Tally raised an eyebrow. “Okay, so maybe I would, but I think I've already ruined my chances with him, if there were any.” Tally snorted. She could already see the couple. They would be like Brangelina, execpt without all the kids and money.
“How?”
“I accused him of Brittany being his fuck buddy and telling him his butt was bony, right after he caught me staring.”
Silence filled the air around them, before Tally burst out laughing. And wouldn't stop. Avery blushed harder. “It's not that bad, is it?”
Tally cringed. “You really have a way with men, Av.”
Her response was a groan and her forehead thwacking against the table.
“It's just history. Once this hour's over, it will be history. So get in there.” Avery gave herself a pep talk as she stood at the door. Opening it and sliding inside, she saw Aden sitting at the table calmly, looking completely at ease. She smiled at Scott as she slid into her seat, and she saw Aden's mouth curve slowly.
“Hi,” he chirped, and she stared at him before replying.
“Hey,” she replied in a quieter tone.
“You know, I'm still mad,” he said, still not looking at her. Avery gulped. Here it came, the whole lecture on calling people she just met out on having friends with benefits. “about the whole bony butt thing.”
Avery visibly relaxed, and Aden glanced at her curiously. “Oh. That. Huh.” She blushed, and Aden chuckled, shifting unconsciously closer. “I thought I was just about to get a big speech on your sexual activities with Brittany and staying out of it.”
Aden raised his eyebrows. “You're interested in my sexual activities?”
“No!” She half shouted, earning a glare from a boy with glasses in front of her. Quietening down, she looked at Aden before continuing. “It's just...what I said when I met you was totally uncalled for, I'm sorry.”
A blank look.
“What, no I accept your apology or anything?” She asked, and Aden grinned.
“I'm more interested in your sexual activities.” Aden's eyes flicked to her lips, and back up, his eyes holding a playfulness, yet another emotion. Not quite lust, but it was unnerving enough to have Avery lose track of her smart comeback.
“They are none of your business!”
“We could make it my business.”
Avery's jaw dropped at the innuendo. “I'm going to ignore you know.”
Aden laughed, and Avery turned away. A few seconds later, Avery felt warm breath tickle her neck, and lips just beside her ear, causing an involuntary shiver to run through her body.
“I'd like to see you try.”
