Avery had felt a surge of happiness the next morning when she woke to find Aden wrapped tightly around her, his arm as her pillow, and she soon realised how stuck she was on him. Literally. Aden was like a log, and she had learnt he was a bed hog, slayed half over her and half around her. Not that she minded, at all.
She sighed, looking at his face with a giddy smile on her face and remembering the night before. It had been amazing, and she knew she'd never, ever regret what had happened between them.
Then she remembered what else had happened, and her blood boiled.
Avery was trying to remove herself from Aden's grasp when he woke, yawning loudly.
"Where are you going?" He muttered, his voice thick from sleep, his eyes still not open. Avery smiled, her heart melting.
"I need to shower and see if Fiona's home."
Aden groaned. "It's morning already?"
"That's why the suns shining through my window," Avery giggled, pushing up off the mattress again.
"Nuh uh," Aden groaned, pulling her back down, and suddenly he was hovering over her, his arms either side of her head, his mouth barely touching hers. "You're not going anywhere."
He kissed her, long, deep, and Avery felt herself heat up again. Aden nipped at her bottom lip, and she opened, feeling his tongue brush hers softly. She sighed, gripping his hair in her hands and lifting her body up to him.
"Round three?" She whispered, and he grinned, one hand teasing the side of her hip, before sliding under her and clutching her bottom.
"I think that's-" He shot up, his face concentrating on something. Avery looked confused, trying to pull him back down.
"Ssh! I think Fi's home-fuck!" Aden whispered, clambering off the bed to land with a thump on the floor. Avery ducked under the covers, pretending to have just woken.
Fiona poked her head into her bedroom, smiling. "Hey, hon."
"Morning Fi." Avery squeaked, her voice high pitched. She cleared her throat, grinning. "Any news?"
"Yeah, I'm just going to grab some of the files then head back to the station. You'll be alright here today? I might be late."
"I'll be fine." Avery said, smiling again.
Fiona nodded, turning to leave the room. She paused, smirking. "Hi, Aden."
A few seconds later, Aden's head poked up from behind the bed, and he grinned sheepishly.
"Hey, Fi."
"Have a good night?"
"Splendid."
Fiona chuckled, shutting the door. Aden stared at Avery with a look on his face that she could only describe as funny. "How'd she know I was here?"
"Well, you're pants are lying beside my door."
Aden just cracked a grin. "I wondered where they were." He stood, and Avery drank in the sight of him, smiling like an idiot when she realised he was all hers.
"I'm getting first shower," he announced, walking towards her bathroom butt naked. Avery gasped.
"No! I am! You'll use all the hot water!"
Aden grinned, already closing the bathroom door. "You should have thought about that instead of lounging around in bed."
Avery groaned, falling back against her pillows.
"Men," she muttered, feeling happier then she had in months.

"You want to go to the beach? We can call Tally, see if she want's to come too." Aden said as they ate breakfast an hour later. Avery nodded, already calling her best friend.
"I hoped we wouldn't leave her on her own today."
"Tell her to pack her surfboard, the waves are looking amazing." Aden said, standing up and placing his plate in the dishwasher. He looked so at ease in her kitchen that Avery suddenly had a crystal clear picture of their life, years from now, and it made her smile like a madwoman again.
"Hey, Tally. Me and Aden were wondering if you want to come to the beach with us soon? We'll pick you up in half an hour. Okay? Alright, bye."
Half an hour later, Avery and Tally were lying in their bikini's on their backs, watching Aden surf.
"So," Tally started, "how was he?"
Avery blushed. "I have no clue what you mean."
"Please, Av. I can see you eye-sexing him now. You look...smug. Tell me everything!"
Avery laughed, a real, good feeling laugh. "You're so weird, T."
"At least I'm not banging my boyfriend silly."
Avery blushed again. "You're so crude." She filled her in, giggling all the way.
They lay on the beach for another half an hour, until Aden came and joined them. He bent down, kissing Avery quickly before plopping down beside her, breathing hard from his surf.
"You two should come out for a swim, it's so nice!" He exclaimed, his eyes lit up like a kid's on Christmas. Avery laughed, about to stand up when a black sedan caught her attention. It was more the person in the passenger seat, though.
Scott was holding a camera in his hands, aiming it straight at them. Avery paled, turning to look at Aden, who had already noticed it. The sedan took off just as Aden jumped up and raced towards his car. Tally and Avery followed, jumping in just as Aden pressed his foot to the pedal. Avery threw Tally her shirt and shorts, pulling on her own.
"Don't lose them." Avery muttered, looking at the tail lights of the sedan.
"Call Fi and Barker." Aden growled, his face tight with worry and anger.
"Was that Scott?" Tally asked, her voice angry.
"Yeah,"
"Bastard! I'm going to show him why I'm renowned for the split kick in cheer leading as soon as we catch him."
Avery smiled grimly. She was more concerned about the driver.
It could be the killer.
She breathed in through her nose.
She wanted him behind bars, now. Glancing at Aden, who's hands were tight on the steering wheel, she realised for about the billionth time how lucky she was to have him.
He glanced her way, sending her a quick smile. "Don't worry, I won't do anything stupid."
Avery returned his smile, but couldn't help but worry.
Because he would, if it meant protecting her and Tally, or anyone else.
