"Turn it down!" Avery laughed, fighting to win over the volume button with Aden. Somehow, he managed to still steer the car and wrestle her hand away at the same time, without any problems.
"No! Leave it, I love this song!"
"Aden, it's Adele."
"So? I let you listen to The Script when they're on the radio!"
"That's because they're amazing!"
"So is Adele."
Avery rolled her eyes, and gave up, falling back into the passenger seat with a thud. The lyrics of 'Set Fire To The Rain' bellowed in the small space, and she pouted at Aden, who was singing (badly) at the top of his lungs.
"We're going to be late." Avery muttered, and Aden shrugged.
"We can always just wag."
"No, I need to work on this assignment that we're doing which I seem to be the only one working on it at the moment." She added, snippy, and Aden sighed, turning down the radio finally.
"You look so beautiful today," Aden said in a low voice, sending tingles through her central nervous system. One month of dating him, and he still gave her shivers.
"That's not getting you out of the dog box." Avery replied, and he laughed, pulling into the school parking lot. Turning the key in the ignition off, he reached around and grabbed his bag, before opening his door and jumping out.
"It did last time."
"This is a little more serious then spilling chocolate milk on my favourite scarf, Aden."
Avery watched as his face clouded, and he started walking along beside her, grabbing her hand and pulling her closer. Avery smiled slightly, her whole insides warming at his protectiveness.
"You know that was an accident-" Aden started, but never got to reply as Tally screeched towards them, cheeks red, eyes wide.
"Hey, guys. Av, can I borrow you for a second?"
Avery frowned. Something was up. Normally, Tally would just drag you away without explaining. It's when she asked permission you had to get worried.
"Ah, sure. I'll see you in History." Avery told Aden, and he gave her a quick peck on the lips before Tally dragged her towards the girls bathrooms.
"Tally, whoa, what's the rush?" Avery stared into the eyes of her best friend, and noticed something like panic in them.
"Okay first, do you have any tampons?" Avery would have laughed if it weren't for two reasons. One, it was never funny when you had no tampons, and two, Tally looked about ready to hyperventilate.
"Yeah, hang on-" Avery searched her bag, and came up with a box. Handing them to her, Tally rushed into one of the stalls, and reappeared a few moments later, handing back the box.
"Thanks. Anyway, I'm stuck in a bit of a hard place at the moment, and I really, really need your help!" Tally stated, pacing before remembering to wash her hands. Once the tap had been turned it off, Avery stared at her best friend, concerned.
"What's wrong?"
"I think I like Scott. A lot." Avery visibly relaxed. If that was all it was then she had no idea why they were standing in the middle of the bathroom just before the bell.
"Oh, well that's easy. Go for it." She replied, and Tally's mouth dropped in shock.
"That's it? Really? No girl rule to prevent me from it? God, I stayed up half the night thinking up my apology to you!" Tally cried, and Avery laughed, hugging her softly.
