Crashing into bed that night brought me a wave of comfort. I hadn't had a good night's sleep since I arrived in Santorini and by now I probably looked like the walking dead. The conversation I had with Taeyong on the balcony kept replaying in my head like a broken record. His voice ringing out in my head like a beautiful melody.
Eventually, I drifted to sleep with thoughts of another seaside rendezvous with batman. However, once I awoke after a delightfully long sleep, I soon realised my plans were about to change drastically.
Dark, dull, grey clouds swarmed the sky, casting a gloomy glow across the land. Raindrops relentlessly showered down from the sky, making quite splatter noises as they came into contact with the glass doors that lead to the balcony. Occasionally, the loud crash of thunder could be heard somewhere in the distance.
On the other hand, I felt like a small caterpillar, encased in the capsule of warmth and safety I called a bed. I much preferred to be a spectator of the rain and cold than to be in the middle of it.
My mind was wandering away as I was trapped in my own personal bubble when a sharp knock at the door interrupted my train of thought. Reluctantly, I peeled the warm covers from my body and hissed with disapproval as the cold air stabbed at my skin.
It must be my parents at the door, wondering why I haven't emerged from my room in the past 10 hours. A loud yawn escaped my lips as I stretch my arms as much as I can, desperately trying to wake my sleeping limbs.
Another knock at the door. "Alright, alright! I'm coming!" I yell, shuffling over to the door and opening it. The dim lights that illuminated the hallway was enough to make me wince as I gazed up to the man who stood outside my door.
"Well if it isn't Mr. Arrogant smile." I roll my eyes, stepping back to allow Taeyong entry to my room. He sauntered in and flopped down on my bed like he owned the place.
"That's batman to you, batgirl." He winks at me and I roll my eyes, turning on the TV and scrolling through to find the music channel. I grab a bag of complimentary peanuts that was sat in a small glass bowl on the desk I had and popped one into my mouth.
Taeyong crawled under the covers of my bed and made space for me, motioning for me to lie down next to him. "I'm alright thanks." I say, placing the bag of peanuts back down and perching myself on the end of the bed.
"How'd you keep your room so clean? Mines already a mess." Taeyong comments, his eyes scanning over the spotlessly clean room I inhabited.
"We've been here two nights. One of which I was in hospital for. How'd you even manage to mess a room up that quickly?" I question, swaying my shoulders slightly to the tune of SHINee - View.
Taeyong pulls himself to sit up so that he's sat next to me. "I don't know, I guess it's the way I am. You know, I wasn't expecting you to be in your room. It's almost midday, are you not going out with your parents?" He questions, moving to rest his head on my shoulder but I move to stand up before he could.
My toes curl up, revelling in the feeling of the soft carpet as I walk over to the glass doors and play with the sleeves of my jumper. The raindrops splatter against the window and roll down almost methodically.
Two raindrops catch my eye and I make a mental bet with myself that the raindrop on the left will roll to the bottom first. "Even if my parents wanted to me to go somewhere with them, do you really think I'd let them drag me out in this weather?" I laugh slightly, my eyes concentrated on the two raindrops sliding down. The raindrop on the right was beginning to overtake the one on the left.
"Oh, well, I was wondering....if you really aren't doing anything with your parents today...if you'd let me force you to go somewhere in this weather." Taeyong's words don't register in my brain as I watch the raindrops slide down the cold window only to converge as one halfway down.
