"JIHYO! WAKE UP! GET YOUR POTATO ASS OUT OF BED!" Hana bursts into my room, jumping and dancing around like a 5 year old who found the hidden cookie jar. It was unusual for Hana to wake me up because even if I'd asked her to wake me up, she never did. We'd been living here for 3 days and it didn't take long for me to discover she is a complete and utter bitch.
She was one of them types of roommates who would use your toothbrush without asking and leave all the dishes in a massive pile, refusing to clean them. Wherever she walked she left a trail of snack wrappers and used dishes in her wake. Plus, she played music as loud as she could into the early hours of the morning and hogged the shower for way too long.
Anyways, here she was dancing around my room creating way too much noise than I was happy with. Reluctantly, I pulled myself to sit up, wincing at my reflection. My hair stuck out in every direction and the bags under my eyes were a dark, ugly colour. Plus my skin condition was so bad. I looked like a walking zombie.
"Why are you waking me up at this time?" I ask, hiding my face in my hands. Instead of answering, Hana grabs my wrists and pulls me to stand up, continuing to dance around me in circles.
My eyelids droop shut and I sling my hands into the large pocket of my hoodie. She finally calms down a bit and stands in front of me, her eyes shining with excitement. "My boyfriends coming today. He got into this college. He's taking the medical course too, so maybe he's in your class. Hands off though!" She giggles, pointing a warning finger towards me.
"Trust me. I think I'll be fine." I shake my head wishing that she would leave so I could go back to bed. Today was my free day so I was planning on catching up on sleep. "Anyway, I'm gonna be at class when he gets here so keep him company. It won't be for ages. He gets hereat 12." She looks at herself in my mirror, smoothing her clothes out and touching up her hair.
I pull my hood over my head and pull the strings so that the hoodie encloses around most of my face. "Sure thing." I mumble, collapsing back onto my bed.
"Noooo, don't go back to sleep. You have to tidy before he gets here. I can't have him thinking I live in a messy house. There's not much for you to do just clean the dishes, tidy the living room, take out the trash, clean the shower and the sink and hoover the carpet. Oh and if you could tidy my room that'd be great. Thanks, bye!" She rushes her commands out quickly and leaves before I have time to protest.
Great, looks like I'm gonna have to clean all day. So much for a day to catch up on sleeping. I rushed around the dorm, cleaning this and that until it was spotless. By the time I was finished and collapsed onto the sofa, I realised Hana's boyfriend would be here soon.
Once again, I pulled the strings of my hoodie so it would constrict and hide most of my face. I was about to put on some netflix when I heard a knock at the door. "It's open!" I yelled, not wanting to get up seen as my legs were still stiff and aching from all the damn cleaning I just did.
The door creaked open and I twisted my head to see the face of the man Hana adored so much. I had already had a picture of him in my head. He was a tall, rich guy with a look that made you want to punch him. I imagined he had a big nose that looked like it weighed down his face and a massive beard that was constantly adorned with food crumbs.
It took my eyes a moment to adjust to the light spilling in through the doorway but once I did, my eyes widened. He stared back at me, looking almost as surprised as I did.
"Jihyo..." the way my name fell from his lips sent shivers down my spine.
"Taeyong..." different emotions set off in my stomach like fireworks. I felt a strange excitement from seeing him again. However, I also felt angry and upset at how he flirted with me yet his girlfriend was my roommate.
