My family pushed me into making a decision.
"Aylia, I think you should join the alliance. It pays very well." my aunt said.
"But, I don't want to be part of that..... alliance and plus why does it have to me?" I complained. "I know that Luke is the leader, but do I have to. I mean I will be missed."
My sister said," Look I know that this is hard for you, but nobody else can be can get money. Only 16 through 20 can join. You are the only one that can earn money."
"I guess you're right," I said sadly. " I guess I will sign up.
The next day, I signed up for the alliance. Of course, my cousin just had to be there. He was as surprised as I was.
Luke asked," What?!?! Why are you here?
"Aunt Leah sent me here. Ever since you left, our family is in poverty and has to food or water. This was the only way to make some money." I replied.
"But why? It doesn't make sense. I'm not trying to be mean, but you really can't do much. I'm sure you won't even survive training." Luke said.
I snapped,"You don't think I can do anything? Well, I will show. I'm signing up whether you like it or not."
That was the last time I actually had a personal talk with Luke. Three weeks after signing up, training started right away.
I wasn't expecting training to be so difficult. The first day we were assigned names or unit names. Mine was soldier 152. It was just like home all over again. We really didn't do any training that day, but I knew training would be more difficult as it went by.
The second day was when we actually started training. The first training session was shooting practice. There were different targets at various ranges that we had to shoot at.
The captain gave each soldier a different gun. I got a sniper rifle. the few shots were absolutely horrible. I missed every single target.
I was at the bottom of the list. The next few weeks were just as bad as the first day.
The first week we worked on a training course to see where we would the next few months. Well, I started out great, but as usually I totally failed.
The second week I had gotten all the easier training courses. you would think I would have passed them, but I failed all of them but one.
That one course was battle strategy, I was actually good at something. I passed with flying colors.
The third week I was bumped back to where I started at. It didn't have anything to do with a weapon, but strategy.
Since this group was harder, I didn't exactly get a great score.
I knew right at that moment this year of training would be the longest year ever.
