Chapter 11

I couldn't believe that my 19th birthday was coming up in three days. I was so excited. It had been awhile since the scare with my uncle. It had been forgotten like it had never even happened, but I couldn't go anywhere without a personal guard. There had been a rumor that Ventra was close by, but she never showed herself. Every dark corridor scared the crap out of me.

I was enjoying a day of relaxing from training and running for my life. I was wonderful, but if course I knew something was bound to come. My thought came true after a guard came bounding through the room. "Miss. Aylia. Luke needs to speak with you." I nodded my head and quickly got up. I picked up the pace until I got to where Luke was. Luke had a concerned look in his face. "What's wrong? Has something happened?" I knew it was stupid to ask a question like that because I knew something had happened, but I did anyway. Luke nodded his head.

"There had been an attacked on our hidden base in the clouds. Without that base we are a wide opened target." I rolled my eyes. "That's what you said last time, and everything turned out to be all right." Luke sighed. "I know, but this time it's serious. Our spies have picked up a trace of your sister lying around. I need you to be careful." I nodded my head. I would be on high alert.

"How could have someone found our secret base in the clouds? I bet we have a traitor in our mist." I brusted out. Drew listened to every word. "Look. I know that this is hard to believe, but it happens. All we have to do is just see what is going on, and what the invaders plan to do. It's not that hard." I sighed. "I know, but this could be dangerous for anyone to be doing. How many days do we have till we have to come back?" Drew looked down at his instructions. "Luke says three days. If we don't find anything in three days, we have to come back." Great so I get to celebrate my birthday on a spy mission, At least I would be with Drew.

We got into disguise. We dressed up as normal townspeople surrounding the base. We would blend in perfectly. We got a plane and took off. It would be awhile so I took a quick nap.

I was at the hidden base walking around he market place. There were so many people around buying and selling items. I smiled at a little boy selling some tools. I needed one. I found what I was looking for and paid the boy. He smiled back at me and ran off. I hadn't noticed Drew wasn't with me. After three hours of walking around, the market place started to empty rapidly.

I was really confused why everyone was leaving so soon. It was only noon. Then I saw it. I saw what was making everyone leave. The figure was all black. I started to run as fast as I could. The figure started to blur.

I woke up to found Drew at the foot of my bed shaking my leg to get me awake. I about kicked him in the face when I saw him. "Good you're awake. We are close to the base. The landing area needs our information in order for us to land." I nodded and got up. I staggered to the cockpit. I wasn't quite awake yet. A voice came over the speakers. "I need the name of your ship and who is onboard." I pressed the button to speak. "There are two people on board including me. Our ship's name is the Infinite Torpedo. The voice came back. "You can pass." I landed the plane on to the landing pad. I was waiting for troops to be waiting for us, but no one was there.

It was 7 in the morning and the market place was buzzing full of life. There were thousands upon thousands of people bustling through the market. Drew and I split up to see what we would be able to find. I found a beautiful necklace at this one booth. I held it up to the light. It was magnificent. The sells clerk was turned around. I didn't want to bother her if she was doing anything. It looked like she was talking to someone or something.

"Excuse me Miss. I was wonder how much this necklace is?" The clerk turned around with a smile on her face. "Well that would depend. How much do you have?" I showed her all my money. "That's how much it is. All your money." She had a greedy smile in her face. "That much for this little thing? That's a rip off." She shrugged. "I didn't say it was cheap." I chuckled. Something about her seemed like I had already met her before. She had the same look on her face. "Well I hope this necklace sells for you." She smiled and waved goodbye.

That was strange. She looked like my best friend when I was six. I found Drew. He had a hand full if things. I laughed. "What did you all buy?" He smiled. "Everyone was so convincing I couldn't have said no." I laughed. "Come on let's put this junk in the plane." Drew frowned. "It's not junk. It is priceless memories." I rolled my eyes. "Whatever you say pack rat."

Once we loaded everything on to the plane we sat down and talked about we had found. I didn't have to ask Drew what he found. I told Drew about the person I met. "Really so she looks like your best friend since you were six? Hmm that's strange. Maybe it was just your imagination. Don't worry. Come on. Let's find a place to spend the night." I nodded my head and followed Drew.

The whole night I kept thinking about the person I met. What if she was my best friend? I couldn't think like that. I closed my eyes and went to sleep. I shouldn't have met the person at the booth.
