Chaptet 16

Luke's POV

I paced around the control room. It was unlike them to be late. A soldier noticed me pacing. "Luke. They will be here. Have they ever failed you?" I smiled. I can't worry. They will be here before I even know it.

I left the control room to get some fresh air. It was the third day after Aylia and Drew had gone to our base in the sky to found out what had happened. From the corner of my eye, I could see a plane landing. That must have been Aylia and Drew, but I couldn't be so sure.

I waited awhile till a soldier came to find me. "Luke. Drew has arrived. but..." I cut him off before he said anything more. Once I got to the landing pad, it was like the entire medical staff was there. My first thought was that both had gotten injured. Once I reached the plane, I noticed Drew on a stretcher.

His face was pale and lifeless. His eyes were barely open. I looked like he had gotten shot. One of the mechanics motioned me to come over. "He has been like this since he got off the plane." Drew was moving his head side to side every second. He kept saying Aylia and about I need to get her back.

I walked over to Drew and gently shook him. He woke up in a panic. "Drew, its all right. Are you okay?" He nodded his head. "Luke, it's Aylia." I hadn't even noticed Aylia was gone. "She's...... she's..." Drew's eyes closed. "He needs sleep. He lost lots of blood."

The next day, I gather as many soldiers as I could. I needed Aylia to come back or my mother would come back from the dead the kill me personally. The area was very quiet. Drew pointed to where he had last seen Aylia. I followed the road. There was a plane in the distance. I couldn't just run up there. That would be suicide. Plus I didn't even know if Aylia was even in that plane.

Before I could even think of a plan, the plane started. It was starting to take off. "FIRE AT WILL." Drew looked like he was trying to remember something. "Wait! That's the plane that Aylia is in. You can't shoot down your own cousin." Drew was right. "Lower your weapons."

I watched the plane fly off. How could I have been so stupid? I just lost my cousin. How am I ever going to live up to that?

I have two options for a book after this one is over. There is one more chapter, and I can wait to write the second book. Write later.
